Lol the south is such a special place. If people who embrace the confederate are not intentionally racist (which some are), a good chunk of them still often show some prejudice and a lot of harmful ignorance. But we shouldn't generalize like that.

It would be nice if the flag came to stand for something better since I'm always supportive of people claiming something (like language) and having it change over time.

But nothing that symbol stands for right now is really that great and some of it is offensive. I could almost say that some of the values many in the south stand for are kind of offensive.

This place is so primitive sometimes tbh.

So it really shouldn't be on government property but of course it has been...it's the south. My favorite billboard is the "#secede" one. Live af.

probably shouldn't be banned generally speaking. sure Nazi imagery has been banned in Germany, but the US does things a little differently.
i think it is self evident that it should not be flown on government property. a flag that represents armed insurrection against the government and the greatest existential threat the nation has truly faced doesn't really belong there.

and despite not being banned, anyone who flies the flag should be met with scorn and derision from all intelligent people. the flag is absolutely 100% a symbol of racism, and the people who wear or display it should be treated the same as someone who wears a shirt supporting slavery or segregation.

displaying the Confederate flag shouldn't make you a criminal, but it does expose you as a pathetic loser

It's such a primitive ideology that people still cling on to, beyond me how that flag is still displayed in places across the U.S.

Better late than never I suppose. Why it took this long for people to even discuss this is what I don't understand.
