As long as he stops now it's fine. One more troll thread and 24 hr ban + thread making ability taken away.

Troll threads are fine if they're occasional but he's made like five today.

Sorry my opinion got your panties in a bunch but not a classic for me. I couldn't care less if you or anybody calls it a classic or not. I know what I like n I don't and I never said it was a bad album, prob a 8/10 for me. Plus, I don't care if you guys call it a classic or not won't change my opinion. Pretty amazing album anyway.

I agree with the OP. (a bit)
One thing people usually agree on is that it has to stand the test of time. Like in 10 yrs (after its released) will people still be listening to it? 15 years? And so on.
How old is TPAB or GKMC or even S80?

    Its just too early.

But for some things you need to wait longer than 3 years. One of the biggest knocks I've heard against SSLP is the pop culture references being aged, like 3 years after the album came out those would be somewhat relevant, but a decade later kids listening wouldn't get it at all

its only valid for albums who ain't acclaimed or have yet to influence other albums.

when your albums are praised as the best albums of the generation, you can be sure they'll be mentioned in every "best albums of all time/best albums of the decade" lists from respectable magazines (or people) ...which means these albums can't be forgotten.

In conclusion. When your album has the universal acclaim and is already praised as a classic, its a classic, period.

Guru said the same thing about gkmc, he said the album was already a timeless classic because it captured a moment in time (with the praise and acclaim) so we don't have to wait 10 or 15 years, you knew it was already timeless few months after its release.

I think one of the main problems with pop culture references in music is that they do tend to sound dated, taking away from the "timeless" factor, but then again they provide a great insight into what was going on in that time period.

Idk, it's a hard subject to tackle.

Both of these are classics. The hood isn't bumping Kendrick so these aren't classic? But the hood is bumping Thug so that means Thug = Classic? GTFO

Lock this thread. It was definitely a troll.

Come on son, this guy on the first page said it better, "an individual doesn't determine s---".

Are tpab and gkmc praised as classic? yes they are.

    End of discussion. /Thread

GKMC one of the best hip hop albums ever made. TPAB might be a classic in the future because it seems very relevant to the s--- goin on right now, especially the pac interview. So for now kendrick has 1 classic and two 8.5-9/10 albums. Compare his first 3 albums to any legends first 3 and theyre as good as or better than most.

Tpab is twice as good as gkmc and is the highest rated album ever. By definition GKMC is a 9/10 album and tpab is one of the best albums ever made.

Tpab will always be praised as kendrick's best effort, either you want it or not.
