What exactly do you mean by overly self-serious? Otherwise I agree with just about everything you had to say although the only track I'd cut would be How Much A Dollar Cost. I don't mind the length of TPAB.
Edit: Sorry if that's a r-----ed question haha I'm just a little confused.

"i" would be the perfect ending song for the album imo. For Sale and Hood Politics (how tf did he write that 2nd verse?) bothered me more than the songs you mentioned. I like songs like i, u, Alright, You Ain't Gotta Lie etc. Easily worse than Section 80

Well Section.80's my personal favorite Kendrick album and I don't think that's ever gonna change, so I agree. What's wrong with Hood Politics aside from Demo-crips and Re-blood-icans?

I still think it's a dope album but I'd rather listen to GKMC. The production on this was freakin great though, some of the concepts were just not THAT innovative and people freaked out like it was the greatest thing since pepperoni on pizza

Have you ever played jenga :kappa:
tbh the boo-boo's, that atrocious part in the 2nd verse and the beat change after it are the only things I remembered from the song so I had to listen again; the beat is nice but Kendrick, not so much

times havent changed m8 i still think the album is easily at least an 8/10

if you remember (which you probably dont because people prefer generalizing than sticking to da factz) i specifically didnt even rate TPAB at ALL for like the first month and a half, and only started when me and @BigCountry started our TBT thread...and the goal of that thread was to finally have a rating for the album for myself

but we never finished the thread...and since then ive only ever said its between an 8-9

so, yaw, no times changing here

just sick of people not being even the least bit critical of this album, when there's plenty to criticize (moreso than any kendrick album to date probably tbh)

Maybe purist was too strong. People who claim to like hip hop but s--- on this album. If you really think the production on TPAB is inferior compared to DJ Quiks 1st album then you are delusional. Aceyalone is debatable and the Roots are superior but Quik is The Name? Really? A microwaved version? TPABs production is way more intricate and developed than Quik is The Name's.

I hope you mean thug is one of the hardest working and not the best. That hard work hasn't produced quality music so I don't admire his hard work.

Tell me what you think is better than this album that came out this year so I can gauge how much of a hater you are

This record is not dumbed down at all lol if anything its the complete opposite

And people who discovered rap last year would hate this album because it's not simple and accessible

Was the Lucy song not simple enough for you? The album is as straightforward as it can be

edit: regarding the bold part, it works on songs like tbtb. but in general, not so much

I'll give you For Sale because the breadcrumbs were huge but the album as a whole is not straightforward. You can't tell me tracks like These Walls, For Free, and Momma are dumbed down

"Oh America, you bad b----, I picked cotton that made you rich Now my d-ck ain't free"

He literally says what the song is about, right there ^. Same with most of the other songs, or Hood Politics (Democrips lmao) etc. Compare this social commentary to what he did in Section 80, for example.
