Jun 29, 2015 I think my favorite book is Deathly Hallows, and my favorite movie is DH part 1. I was way late to the HP craze and I read them all in 2010, and I enjoyed the last book the most just cuz it's a departure from the school stuff and it was a great story. I like the DH part 1 film the best because it was the first film I got to wait for and be excited about and it definitely lived up to my expectations. It was very good. DH part 2 was great too but I felt it was overly condensed - they could have showed Fred die and they could've expanded on the epilogue some. Now I want to reread!
Jun 29, 2015 Favourite movie probably deathly hallows (but I kind of see it as one movie, even though they seperated into 2) The first 2 movies were great at the time but now they seem kind of childish in a way lol. I love all the other movies, but I didn't read the books (except for 3 and 5) so I couldn't be let down like some people say they were.
Jun 29, 2015 The Half Blood Prince is such a dark book for the series with some of the most emotional stuff. Prisoner of Askaban is untouchable film-wise.

Jun 29, 2015 Yeah POA was probably the best film, thought the 4th and 5th were also great, along with DH Part 1. Thought Part 2 was pretty poor, despite all the action. Favourite book is hard to pick, from GOF the whole thing got darker. I'd probably rate it 7th > 4th > 6th > 5th

Jul 1, 2015 Common misconception about the GOAT series... HP > * Problem is, the movies do the books NO justice. And I know a lot of people always say that, but it's the absolute truth in this case. I already discussed this in another thread, but f--- it, I'll go through it again. The first two movies, are fairly similar to the books, but the director that they signed was a children's movie director. He marketed the movie to children, which is not reflective of the Harry Potter story. The third and fourth movies were outstanding. They focused more on the actual plot and themes rather than the bs "quiddich" and teachings at Hogwarts. I recommend these movies. The 4th movie slows down a bit, but it's definitely good. The fifth and sixth films were disgraces to the book and movie series. Both books, were fantastic and extremely dark. The movies, however, focused on romance and classroom bs, when the books focused on Harry/Voldemort's connection (and how Voldemort can possess Harry) and Voldemort's past (and how he was basically a serial killer as a teenager) There's more, obviously, but those are key examples. The 7th movie, followed the book to a TEE. It was the first movie in the entire series that did so, and hands down the best of the series. Sure, they missed some opportunities (namely, they didn't make it a point to show that Voldemort was basically Adolf Hitler, and was putting people in concentration camps, and performing a holocaust on all "non pure bloods).... However, they did an excellent job on the 7th movie. The 8th movie was good, but rushed, and disappointing. They could've made the 8th movie one of the greatest movies of all time. They dropped the f---ing ball, again. A lot of the faults of the 8th movie is due to the fact that they wasted the 5th and 6th movies on bs that had NOTHING to do with the plot. They focused so much on them "growing up" that they neglected the actual story. Don't get it twisted, Harry Potter is probably the best book series you will ever read, and Voldemort might be the greatest fictional villain ever. They f---ing dropped the ball with it... Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort should've contended with Heath Ledger's Joker as GOAT villain. Snape is one of the best characters in literature, but they made him transparent as f---.
Jul 1, 2015 this complaint literally just angers me at this point it's such a stupid, annoying dig at movie adaptations, and I ALWAYS see it, no matter what it is, or how good everyone thought it was. ugh
Jul 1, 2015 I hate it too. Almost any movie adaptation of books, it's said. The only movies in the series that irks me is Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince. I'm OK with the first two, because they were capitalizing on the marketing aspect of the series, although it set the film series up to be seen as a "children's movie series"... I'm OK with it though. There's no excuse for the 5th and 6th movies though. They truly f----- it up. I'd much rather see Voldemort's past or Snape's personal digs at Harry ON SCREEN, than half the movie being about Ron snogging some no named ho or making the Quiddich team.

Jul 1, 2015 Spoiler most disappointing scene was when Neville stands up to Voldemort in the 8th movie.... In the book, Voldemort puts the sorting hat on Neville's head and lights it on fire.... Voldemort was GOAT.
Jul 1, 2015 I'll say this though. The one amazing thing they did in the Order Of The Phoenix was Dumbledore vs Voldemort. It was way better than the book. Before this part, I LOVED when Voldemort was trying to get Harry to torture Bellatrix.... "You've got to MEAN it Harry... She killed him... She deserves it.... So weak..." lol But my issue with the movie was the fact that it was supposed to be about Voldemort's ability to control Harry's mind, and how Harry thought he was going to be a weapon of Voldemort against Dumbledore.
Jul 1, 2015 HBP s----d though. Worst movie of the series. I seriously can go on and on about HBP and how disappointing it was. OOTP was bad, but HBP was just awful... It was a big "f--- you" to anyone who read the books. To put it into perspective, for all that didn't read the book... Half Blood Prince was supposed to be a book about Voldemort's past. There was multiple chapters dedicated to it... Only two scenes in the movie...

Jul 1, 2015 I mean, the movies are OK...Like I said, the first two movies are fairly enjoyable for a children's theme... You'll definitely like Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire... I don't know many people who didn't enjoy those movies. GoF wasn't as dark as the book, but it was still enjoyable. Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince are OK movies, but they drag, and it's mainly because of the fact that they focused on all the wrong s---, unlike the books. Prisoner of Azkaban and Death Hallows 1 got it right. They were both great movies and followed everything the right way. DH1 especially. I was overly impressed leaving the theaters. However, the books are amazing. They are extremely detailed, but they're definitely addictive. The great thing about every Harry Potter book/movie, is they are extremely unpredictable. You're not going to guess the ending, or who dies, or what's going to happen... As long as you start from the beginning and follow the story. I just prefer the books, because they get f---ing dark lol.

Jul 1, 2015 I agree. HBP and DH are my two favorite books. HBP is really overlooked as far as the books are concerned. That's probably why I dislike the movie so much, because I had ridiculously high expectations for HBP. I disagree about the movies though. Prisoner of Azkaban was incredible, Goblet of Fire was great and Deathly Hallows is the best... They just missed a HUGE opportunity for DH2. DH2 could've been in contention with any movie, if they went about it the right way. They should've kept the plot, but added scenes to show off Voldemort's strength. (Much like in DH1, when they added the dance scene between Harry and Hermoine, which wasn't in the book, but was a GREAT scene... One of my favorites of the series) I liked the final battle between Voldemort and Harry though, rather than the book's final battle. I also like the scene where Voldemort destroys the force field around Hogwarts. But they didn't do enough of that with Voldemort's character. Snape, Voldemort and Bellatrix, had AMAZING actors/actresses.... I was hoping that they would give them more range. Maybe added scenes, and ignored the whole Cho/Ginny/Quiddich/Dumbledore's Army/etc In the books, as you know, Snape is an absolute prick to Harry. He says tons of f----- up s--- to him. In the movies? Barely anything. He's so transparent in the movies.
