Before I get started, why are critics rating this album so low? This project is actually brilliant. By far the best Lil Wayne project since No Ceilings, and maybe even Tha Carter III. He sounds confident, sober and has created an extremely cohesive project, which is rare coming from Wayne in this day and age, especially after his most recent lackluster projects like Dedication 4 and I Am Not A Human Being II. His lyricism, flow, delivery, beat choice, hooks and storytelling are returning to how they were pre-Rebirth, and he enters the album with a brilliant showcase of his abilities on the track 'Glory'. There are a few hit or misses on this album such as 'I'm That n-----' which consists of one of the most catchy beats on the entire project, and 'White Girl' a song about cocaine featuring a verse from Jeezy. Although, even if these tracks aren't as good as others on here, they are still better than the majority of his post-2010 material. The Free Weezy Album is definitely a step in the right direction for the rest of Wayne's career and this gives me great hope for Tha Carter V, as he says tracks like 'Glory' are lightweight versions of some of the weakest material on C5. Looking forward to Weezy's future, and hopefully critics will see the light very soon.
