So my aunt...

    ...whom I've never met before is trying to connect with me and hit me up on facebook today. She's my birth dads sister, and I've never met him before either or literally anyone from that part of my family in my entire life since he abandoned my mother when I was a baby...

    It's really sort of f---ing awkward. I'm not entirely sure I want anything to do with these people either. They're pretty trash from what I can tell and I ain't about that life. Also, the whole thing just irks me, since supposedly they've been trying for years to get into contact with me, but they've known exactly where I was pretty much the entire time now and I haven't heard a peep outta them...

    I added her though and I'm gonna see where this goes but this is just weirding me out right now. Not sure how to proceed.

    Had this exact thing with my dad's other son. Never met my dad before and then twenty years into my life they wanna connect. Just ignored the requests and didn't get involved. Don't need 'em.

    I'd give anything to get in contact with my dad's side of the family. he left my mother when I was 9 months old, and evidently he had 4 sons before he met my mom, and had a daughter after he left her. So I have 5 siblings, aunts, and uncles I've never met. Embrace the opportunity man, it's once in a life time.

    I'd say give it a chance and get to know her. My dad hasn't spoken to his brother since before I was born so I've never met him or his children/grandchildren. I've always wanted to know more about them and get to know them and it would be really cool if they found me on Facebook like your aunt.

    kidding (maybe). anyway, maybe see how it goes. cuz your dad could be a total d-ck muncher (not.. as in gay I mean,.. nevermind) but your aunt could be really nice. could be worth a shot, but do whatever you feel is right.

    i guess the scary part of this is knowing that eventually, if I do go ahead with all this and get to know them... I'm going to end up meeting my birth dad at some point in the future through them.

    another thing i'm sort of worried about is how conservative/redneck type they seem, especially with them coming from my old hometown. idk how well that's going to go over for obv reasons............. I could get to know them and then they realize and drop me out of their lives again out of f---ing nowhere because of it
