How rude of me, I seemed to have glossed over this in the crossfire, my bad. But yeh, haruhi is just waaaay to unlikable of a character for me to get behind, even if that may be intentional, she has very little redeeming qualities. The other girl characters aren't much better between that literal moeblob mikuru and that generic rei ayanami clone, idk, the series was just boring. And I didn't the character dnyamics really bounced off each other that well, I mean the premise is kinda interesting, but they don't do much with it. Don't get even me started on S2, lol.

The movie was kinda cool, but I cringed hard at parts. I heard the light novels are better though, and haruhi gets more developed and less insufferable in them. Also a foil to the club gets introduced which sounds interesting, but like I said. Only haruhi I can get behind is the one from ouran.

I find it too entertaining to dislike, even for all of it's bs, and yeah there is a lot of bs. It's a parody and a straight up comedy, and is pretty good at both, and it has some of the nicest animation I've ever seen. There's also a lot of sentimental attachment here since it was like the second anime I ever saw or something and Mikuru too moe desu

Ouran was pretty good, so we can agree on that

Heh word, I will concede the animation isn't bad (the movie is pretty nice looking actually), but the anime always felt unfinished to me (which it is the plot is still going on), and it ended with haruhi not really developing and still being a prat.

Lol, how you feel about this series is how I feel about death note, I swore that was some mindblowing epic s--- when I first saw it, but now it seems so meh. Like it really is just about a bunch of unlikable characters constantly one upping each other the series, with some homoerotic tendencies between the two. My biggest problem with the series is the way uh (spoiler I guess) the mc went out, he shoulda went out by his own hubris not being tricked or one uppped lol. Also how does this series not touch dictators with a ten foot pole? If I had the death note the first names I'd be writing are like dictators (end spoiler). Oh yeah and the art style is kinda wack, lol.

Ouran is prob one of the few times, I dig the anime more than the manga, the anime looks much better than the manga. Also I dig the open endedness of that ending, but I'd k--- for another season, since the series ended.

I don't know how to respond to the Death Note hate because I'm not that knowledgeable on it

Ouran was never going to match up for me. My best friend is a massive Ouran stan and bugged me for like four years before I finally relented and watched it, and it was never going to live up to the expectations he'd set for it. It was alright, and very funny, but I found it often jumped from comedy to drama and back again too quickly, and the mood whiplash would take me out of the show two or three times per episode.
Why was it never continued, though? It's a very popular series with a rabid fanbase, and the manga ended a good four or five years after the anime. Seems kinda weird that it was never given a second season, and I've never cared to look it up

I know I'm not anyway involved in this conversation but:
- Haruhi is in fact way better in the light novels, and you should always try to read the light novels of manga if possible
- death note started with a great concept but turned meh, sorta like naruto
- ouran is a technically fine anime on paper but it's one that bores me

You read the light novels mate? I unno, I mean it might be, just there seems to be some pretty interesting plots in the novels that never made it to the series or movie. I'd prob like the series a lot more if the anti-sos brigade made it's introduction and haruhi finally got some character development where she isn't such a brat.

Naruto was a standard albeit well done coming of age story and battle series in the chuunin exam, but once the plot got sidetracked and kishimoto started fellating the Uchihas and self inserting himself into sasuke than the series spiraled out of control into being a s-----y yaoi manga. Not to mention it pissed all over the underdog theme with naruto and turned him into the complete opposite of that and shat all over the side characters and real underdog of the series (Rock Lee, for chrissake his spinoff manga is more enjoyable than this trash heap). I stopped taking the series seriously and it plummeted into Twilight level tier when it tried to convince us that Itachi was a victim of society and really a brooding anti-hero yet is still a super cool genius that can k--- people with a stare. He reads like some terrible OC self insert character for obese mouthbreathing fangirls.

I actually don't think it's a masterpiece, it's more something I saw a while back and just dig. I do really like the humor though and think the character dynamics and the way they work off each other is great and makes for some interesting moments.
