Drake NWTS> Take Care

    I understand that it is an unpopular opinion, and when NWTS originally dropped, I never would have felt this way, but somehow NWTS aged like a fine wine and I truly believe it to be superior to Take Care.
    While I personally enjoy Take Care more to listen to, I think NWTS is a more calculated and precise album, and it doesn't feel as bloated as Take Care does at times.
    I also think that the features on Take Care hurt the overall quality of the album (Nicki's verse, Wayne, 2 Chainz, etc). Granted the Jay-Z verse isn't great, but I don't think his feature hurts the overall quality of the album, and I actually think that Drake out-rapping Jay on his album showed the world where Drake truly was in the Hip-Hop world. He was at the top of his game and he knew it and rapped like he knew it.
    Again, I enjoy Take Care better, but I just think NWTS sounds a bit more polished and mature. I know it's an unpopular opinion and I'll probably take some hate for it, but oh well. I absolutely love both albums, but just think NWTS is slightly better. Thoughts?

    If you prefer rap, you'll probably like NWTS more

    If you prefer the softer emotional stuff, you'll like TC more.

    I've always seen that as the reason why I love take care so much

    Take Care is a much better album, NWTS is safe and boring

    I prefer take care but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to it .
    I can play nwts at any time.
    Also nwts has better mixing.

    Oh don't get me wrong I love the emotional stuff. And love Take Care. I think the albums are neck and neck. I just think Take Care would've been better if it had some of its middle fat trimmed. I won't disagree that NWTS is safer, but I don't understand the notion that it's boring.

    Yeah, I've been feeling like that lately too. NWTS has only continued to get better with time.

    I'd be lying if I said I wasn't amongst those who was disappointed with departure from the sound he ran with on Take Care initially. But as time passed, you start to appreciate how well crafted/well balanced NWTS is. Yes NWTS has 305 to My City, but Take Care had it's share of air balls as well. Neither of the two are perfect albums.

    NTWS is slightly better than Take Care.

    I agree completely. I think some of the back tracks in the middle are just a tad forgettable. NWTS is just better put together. I felt the same initially too. Totally wasn't feeling NWTS, but it aged so well, in my opinion.

    This so hard :sad2:

    They're both great albums that I constantly bump but I can't seek comfort in NWTS like I can with Take Care. Whenever I'm in my feels I always go for Take Care :hovcry:

    Completely. I prefer Take Care more for my personal tastes, I just think NWTS is an overall better album. Just like I would rather watch The Graduate over the Godfather, but I know that the Godfather is better.

    Word I would say both are close in quality, but the fact that NWTS has a shorter tracklist helps it.

    My original rating for NWTS was an 8.5 but I'd put it at a 8.8 (exactly the same rating I give Take Care). I know its petty not giving it a 9, but GKMC is a 9 to me and neither of these albums are as good as that imo.

    d---, I gotta think it through. It's been a bit since I listened to NWTS in its entirety, like @Mike Tyson said, I wasn't exactly a fan of the more bar filled tracks. I'll listen to it rn and come back with an opinion.

    I definitely agree neither of the albums are GKMC level, but I do agree that I would probably rate them similarly. Maybe NWTS an 9 and Take Care an 8.75 for me. GKMC is a 9.5 for me.

    I definitely find myself listening to NWTS a lot more than TC recently. This is tough because they're so different. I agree that TC is a little long, but realistically the only song I would think about cutting would be Headlines. The worst track on NWTS is 305 To My City, and even that's enjoyable sometimes. They both have that emotional tone to them, NWTS is just done in a little bit darker, more aggressive style than TC.

    Between the 2, it honestly comes down to mood for me. I would have to go through and rate each album to properly figure out which is truly better. If you put a gun to my head I would probably say TC, but I prefer listening to NWTS simply because there's more rap on it.
