Aug 12, 2015he's probably referring to, like, songs that were finished and mixed in 2015, ready for release. obviously he has five or ten times that many half-finished things from over the years.

I still think the "piano heavy" version would have been the absolute best album of all-time.
California rapper-producer DJ Quik was in the studio with Dr. Dre recently, and he's got lots of Detox-related news to spread: "I'm gonna snitch … [Dre's] reinterpreting Chopin symphony stuff. It's crazy, he's lost his mind. He's got like 400 records. As a matter of fact I was there for like four hours, and I think I only heard maybe 60 songs. This man's got like six or seven Detox records if he wants … And Snoop is now back in the studio with Dr. Dre." But then Quik drops this awesome bombshell: "The man is getting piano lessons from Burt Bacharach."
I trust Quik. I forgot who the other article was from and can't find it at the moment but I remember somebody working with Dre said the entire thing was basically piano driven beats but Jimmy Iovine came through and squashed that idea. f--- that piece of s---. Dre's piano beats from 05-08>>>>>>>>>>>
Not to mention the beat on Gone is my favorite moment in rap history. -

Dr. Dre and Tupac are complete opposites. I remember someone saying Pac would record multiple songs in one sitting. That he worked extremely fast and whenever he was done laying his verses on one song he'd ask for the next beat. I think it was Snoop during an interview if i recall correctly.
Taking time to perfectionate a record doesn't mean you are lazy. Dre is a producer for a reason, he knows what he wants his records to sound like and it can take time to perfectionate a single beat till you think everything is on point. Writing verses for a song is much easier than creating the beat and overseeing the entire production of the song making sure everything sounds right.Hard Klyntar, what, SLAYAR and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

“I had between 20 and 40 songs for Detox,” Dre said, ”and I just couldn’t feel it. Usually I can hear the sequence of an album as I’m going, but I wasn’t able to do that. I wasn’t feeling it in my gut. So I really thought I was done being an artist.”bg_pop, Meero, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
