Aug 13, 2015 http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/08/13/will-smith-producing-fresh-prince-of-bel-air-reboot A reboot of the popular 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is reportedly in the works. According to TVLine, original series' lead Will Smith is spearheading the project, where he will serve as executive producer via his production company, Overbrook Entertainment, alongside James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith. The show is reportedly in the early stages of development, and will provide a modern-day take on the show that skyrocketed Smith's acting career, but still retain the spirit of the original show. Overbrook is believed to be finalizing its pitch now, which should begin making the rounds to networks within the next several weeks. -- UPDATE: Today happens to be NBC’s day at the TCA press tour and NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt was asked if he’d be interested in the new version of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Greenblatt actually hadn’t heard about the project yet, as news of it had just broken. But his first response was, “It’s something I’d be happy to talk to Will about, sure.” While Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired on NBC, it came from Warner Bros. Television, though they were not mentioned in TV Line’s initial report.
Aug 13, 2015 Ahh idk about this. The original is my favorite TV show of all time. The cast was legendary, I don't see how they could make something that comes close to the original series. How can they replace/recreate classic s--- like this?
Aug 13, 2015 This and Full House are changing the game. Only thing I'm worried about is these shows being aimed at the same audience age instead of the same audience. Full House / Fresh Prince fans are 21+ year old adults now, so these shows (in theory) should be written for the same adult audience rather than kids have never heard of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The fact that it's a reboot doesn't even matter at that point. Girl Meets World sounded great until it became a kids show. Won't happen, but one can dream.
Aug 13, 2015 no, WE DO f--- it...i dont care if this have 99% chance to fail...the 1% that might work still enough for me
Aug 13, 2015 I'm fine with reboots. Yeah, the originals are often better, but there's always that itch of "I'd wish we get a modern version"
Aug 13, 2015 I dont know how I feel about this. Fresh prince is hands down my favorite show of all time.
Aug 13, 2015 I feel bad for the guys who have to follow in Will & Carlton's shoes. I have a feeling we'll get some great cameos from them in this though.
Aug 13, 2015 Not sure if this will be any good or not but either way I'm pretty hyped. After James Avery died I thought for sure we'd never get more fresh prince. Even when he was still alive I thought it was VERY unlikely. So I'll take what I can get here, maybe it'll be worthwhile.
Aug 13, 2015 Disney Channel f----- up completely They had a mini reunion with some of the original cast, but it wasn't nearly as satisfying as it should've been
Aug 13, 2015 Boy Meets World is my favorite tv show ever took over my life as a kid that spin off on disney channel is something you don't speak of f--- that s-----y show
Aug 13, 2015 Only way I'd be interested in this is if it was the an update on the original cast and what they're doing now in the modern world. Looks like that's not gonna happen though. Not to mention my favorite character (Uncle Phil) is dead now. Oh by the way, Hillary Banks is hot as f---. One of the first crushes of my life. Still wanna f--- her tbh.
