"replay value" in the sense that you cant just pick a song and play it whenever you want because it doesnt have "hits." The album is too dense and kendrick did this on purpose. I have to play the album from top to bottom in order to enjoy it, only songs i play casually are king kunta and alright. This isnt a knock on the album though, an album should be something you listen to in full. :idk:

I like it but it lacks replay value imo. A few songs I still listen to a lot but the whole album, nah...

I'm an album guy, I rarely skip tracks on most albums. TPAB is an album where I especially don't skip any tracks because they're all essential to the themes and the general "story" of the album.

The problem that people i think have with this album is that a lot of people thought we will get a 2nd GKMC.
But TPAB def a classic for me

    It really is, honestly.

Like it just blows my mind every time I listen to it, we really don't deserve an album like this but we needed one, which Kendrick supplied us with. Just an instant classic.

It's still a pseudo-criticism. I don't listen to TPAB super often but I would never use low replay value as a criticism of the album because that's f---in' dumb. Judge the album for the music, not because you don't want/feel like listening to it.

Gotta be honest, I was a little bit insecure whether or not TPAB would be a classic (you can only really say it when the hype dies down) but after re-listening it again a few weeks ago, it's just exactly the album I wanted him to release.

Deep, experimental, honest. And yeah, after a dew months it also has a great replay value (especially if you listen to the whole album). What surprised me is that a few tracks really stand our nowadays similar to what m.A.A.d city or Sing About Me was for GKMC. Wesley's Theory, King Kunta, Alright, U, These Walls, man wtf, no matter how you listen to it, it's always magical.

    Second classic album. Blessed.

I can't decide if you're right or not. I'll turn TPAB on and sleep on it

Obviously replay value is subjective, but variety, mood, type of song/structure, and subject matter are all factors. There's a reason many people have cited low replay value as a means to judge TPAB.

In other news, this thread inspired me to listen to GKMC again :bigquint:

I'm an album guy who rarely skips tracks too, too but I still never really wanna listen to Momma, How Much A Dollar Cost, and Mortal Man.

Though I will say I was prolly a bit too hard on the album recently cuz I listened again for the first time in awhile and it holds up pretty well, ya just gotta be in the right mood for it. Album's pretty perfect up through Alright imo, then gets a bit shakey and bloated...still gr8 though.
