Aug 14, 2015Eminem in his prime was the most complete rapper of all time.
Just my two cents.

1. Denial: "Encore is dope, Eminem you did it again, you a genius n-----!"
2. Anger: "f--- you if you don't understand Big Weenie smh."
3. Bargaining: "Yeah but it's still better than 90% of what rappers are dropping today"
4. Depression: "f---."
5. Acceptance: "Yeah he sucks, Kanye is the better artist no question."

Prime Eminem was nearly flawless, three back to back solo album's plus a handful of classic songs on Devil's Night + 8 Mile.
Em as a rapper was nearly superior to Kanye in every way in his prime. Better flow, delivery, and content. Even his vocals were better than Kanye's autotune'd crapPablo, Jerome, Old Account and 4 others like this. -

It's not really a crutch. Most artists who use it as blatantly as they do use it for the exaggerated effect (like a vocoder). When it's actually used as a tool to correct minor vocal flubs, you don't even hear it because it's so subtle.Joshua Smoses, Narsh, JFK and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Eminem during TES/8 Mile is untouched.
Listening to anything @Skippy says about prime Eminem is laughable because the dude hasn't even listened to him.
I hope people haven't forgotten this.Groovy Tony, Section80 and Franky like this. -

Don't get me wrong I liked 808s but I prefer artists who sing without it and don't need that crutch to sound goodClick to expand... -

a lot of people don't seem to realize just how good Eminem was in his prime - or even when his absolute prime actually was (2000-2001). if they did, more people would know just how silly it is to compare him to rappers like Kanye. but then, it didn’t fully hit me until fairly recently either. my advice to op is to keep listening.
(and no, I'm not a Kanye hater. I actually like a lot of his music.)Click to expand...

Agreed. Em's been out of his prime for over a decade and Kanye pretty much just got out of his right now.Click to expand...CODEiNE DEMON, Old Account and ArthurDW like this. -

The Eminem Show > Late Registration > The Marshall Mathers LP > The College Dropout > Slim Shady LP > Graduation
Not to mention the numerous freestyles, diss tracks, features & work he did with D12 from 99-03 which often goes forgotten in these discussions because people get so consumed in the studio albums. I think Em was better in his prime but obviously Kanye has been much more consistent & is the better overall artist when you look at their entire careers. -

Popped off before his nuts dropped, had the greatest mixtape run of all time, and has had a moderately successful and well received comeback after falling off
