Aug 16, 2015 Written by Ikki Kajiwara (aka Asao Takamori, Asaki Takamori) Illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba Original run: January 1st, 1968 - May 13th, 1973 Number of Volumes: 20 Where to read: http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/ashita-no-joe-r3597 Here lies one of the greatest Shounen mangas to ever be created. A true underdogs story that will leave you in awe of such a fighting spirit that engulfs Joe Yabuki. The trials and tribulations that he goes through is both heartbreaking and character defining. I tend to struggle to string together anything coherent to praise this series... So just take my word for it and go read (or watch) this essential series that is one of the most revered to ever come out of Japan. "Even if it's just for a moment, I'm gonna burn so bright and so red, I'd dazzle everyone. And all that'll be left is pure white ash" - Joe Yabuki
Aug 16, 2015 I hope I'm not abusing the tag but the more people who know about Joe the better. @AnimeSXN
Aug 16, 2015 It grows on you... But I know what you mean, it's a bit off-putting but I have that problem with any new anime I start. Just takes a few chapters or few episodes to get used to it.
