Aug 16, 2015 Here is what I mean: 1990s: For most of this decade Eminem was very poor and he was relatively unknown. He did get famous, but on in 1999, at the end of the decade. 2000s: Eminem was doing good from 2000 - 2003, but then in 2004, he took a sudden downhill turn in quality with Encore. In 2006 he loses his best friend and in 2007 he overdoses. In 2009, he releases Relapse, but it was not well received. 2010s: In 2010 Eminem releases Recovery, a well received album. In 2011, he revives Bad Meets Evil and releases another successful album. In 2012 he didn't really do much, but he was still an active rapper and we got a few songs with him. In 2013 we got the sequel to what's often considered his best album, The Marshall Mathers LP, which was also successful and well received. In 2014 we get a compilation album for 15 years of Shady Records. And in this year, we get songs like Kings Never Die and Medicine Man. Notice something? In the 90s and 2000s Eminem was having a lot of struggles, but by 2010 he has managed to get everything under control and can released nothing but successful and well received albums. In the 90s he only made one album that was actually successful and well received album, and while the 2000s started off good with two successful and well received albums, but he quickly went downhill with Encore, a successful but not well received album. It took him four years to make another album, and while it was successful, it was again, not well received. In the 2010s all of his albums were successful and well received. It should also be noted Eminem was in a lot of beefs and feuds in the 2000s, and he doesn't have to get into all that stuff now. Plus, in the early 2000s it was obvious he had troubles handling the fame he got literally overnight, but now he has that all under control. Another reason he has been doing better now than ever before IMO is the fact he is a sober man. Getting off drugs saved his life big time. So yeah, in the 2010s he has his life in control, is no longer stressed, sober, or getting involved in rap beefs and feuds, has put out nothing but successful and well received albums, and he no longer has to worry about his mom and his ex wife. Keep in mind that Eminem being better now than ever before is just my opinion.
Aug 16, 2015 Surely the amazing stuff between 00-03 outweighs the sub par material released in 04-09 (which is still arguably better than anything released from 2011 onwards)
Aug 16, 2015 Nice points OP. Youre probably absolutely correct, although I dont think its as black and white as you make it seem.
Aug 16, 2015 I just mean on the "well received" points. For all we know Em himself might hate Recovery, know what im saying? He might receive each decade differently on a personal level and for all we know the 90s to him could be his favorite time. I mean at least the guy could go outside without being swarmed lol. Plus he seemed to have a lot of fun when he first blew up. I havent seen him that happy since. + To me there a more human element to what a successful decade is like.
Aug 16, 2015 This decade ain't over yet. We don't know what will happen in Em's life in coming 5 years of this decade. So, don't be so sure..
Aug 16, 2015 first five years from the 2000s>>>>>>>>first five years from 2010 2000-2004 he was the king of the world. end 2004-2005 started his downfall
