Been years since i played pokemon (last year it's just school)
Personally gave up after they nerfed the dragon type AND found a way to make mewtwo more overpowered in the same gen
Anyone picked up the gen ones on VC?

Naah, Swampert had that glaring grass type double weakness due to the ground type, but it had nice defensive stats. this gives it the competitive edge
First off it has the ground type which makes grass type attacks 4x as powerful. But most grass types either have too low special attack stats to K.O it move 1 (Ice beam b------s) or where they rely on physical attacks, a Maxed out defense EV swampert can tank it. The other 'weakness' is the flying type, but then again, flying types almost exclusively use physical attacks. They do have the attack stats to compensate, but then an ice type attack will immediately k--- it.
the problem is that any type that could take advantage of the ground type weakness would also be weak to an icepunch, and grass type moves aren't typically accessible to non grass types, and heavy hitting was never their thing in the first place.
I would recomend a drill peck skarmory to OHKO it. apart from that, Its a pretty solid pokemon.

Blazekin however has that disadvantage of being ousted to water , rock ground AND flying types. the fighting type kills three birds with one stone by
1.defeating any ambidextrous normal types before they feel too special.
2.Eliminating any threat from rock types
It's fire type also keeps the pesky skarmory from meddling around. Its capable of OHKO 'ing grass, rock and maybe some steel types.
The problem i have is that while Swampert has ways to deal with its very few weaknesses while still doing great on the attacking front (earthquake or icepunch) blazekin is remarkably vunerable and any decently put out setups should have at least 3 or 4 pokemon that would ohko it. A swampert is alot harder to deal with. Its not even like blazekin has Nidoking attack stats to compensate.

what you should do is find some competetive friends to battle,
some things are overpowered (lookng at you mewtwo, deoxys , ray ray ) but no one trick is uncounterable.

I remember losing my hair to this little d-ck who spammed Groudon followed by jumpluff (the sun doubles his speed (past deoxys level's))
but you could just take a casual stroll through the single player. My fav is FR/LG

Just finished red in the VC and started Y as well.

Tbh its hard to make a team since im a noob at pokemon after gen 3. This is my first pokemon game after gen 3 and i have no idea who these new pokemon are lol

Not that big a fan of this new game play style and 3d graphics. Will probably have to get used to it I guess..

Anyone else playing Y?

I played X a few years back. If you're unfamiliar with the new gens but want to get us to the 3D feel then go for Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire, the remakes of Gen 3.
