I am all for real feminists and true feminism as I believe everybody should be treated as equals. The early feminist movements & even this Third Wave have allowed me to be the independent woman I am.

Unfortunately, a lot of the 'Third Wave Feminists' give a bad name to feminism as a philosophy that promotes equality and make me annoyed at my own sex sometimes for being so blind and unfair. The popularity of the concept 'I'm pro woman, the media is evil and makes us dislike ourselves for not being the hollywood standard of beauty', focus so heavily on the feminist aspect they forget that men undergo the exact same pressures, almost to the point of turning the fight AGAINST men rather than uniting as equal human beings against a warped shallow media. They seem to take a stance that is more anti-men than pro-women and act as if only women have a standard to live up to, that only women can be insecure as a result of these images of 'perfection' pushed in their face that create a false standard.

The feminists taking that view is beginning to make me more pro-equal-men and anti-feminist-woman for dividing focus from the true source of the problem.

Haven't read the thread, but I'll share my two cents.

Feminism as an idea is not bad at all. Equal rights, pay etc should be a given these days. BUT there are those super-angry (and jealous) girls out there who take it waaay to far, and literally hates men. These are the feminists who hurt the ideology's reputation.

1)Y'all have to understand the difference between "feminism" and "pro-women" even if that second group took there name to communicate their hateful message on social networks ; as Bigcountry prove it, feminism only means "wanting equality between men and women". So everyone should be feminist, i'm one and i'm proud of it.
2)If you think that feminists are all that second type of people, it's because real feminism can't be express on social network, it's a attempt to avoid
misogyny that you have to apply in your everyday life.
3)Please, keep in mind that men's violences against women in the world are ONE MILLION TIME more brutal than "pro-women" actions, so instead of complaining about them, ask yourself why women's community is in distress.
