Sep 1, 2015 Anthony Horowitz, the author behind the 007 novels, is catching backlash today for comments made in an interview promoting the latest edition of the James Bond literacy, Trigger Mortis. "Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah." He's recently issued an apology for his coments via Twitter As of now, Idris has not addressed the comments. He has steadfastly denied rumors he was next in line to play 007, and puts most of the blame on Daniel Craig. "Honestly, it’s a rumor that’s really starting to eat itself," he said during an appearance at London's British Film Institute in April. "If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone." "Daniel Craig actually set the rumor off. About four years ago he said, 'Idris Elba would be a great Bond,' and then it started to creep. I blame Daniel." How do you guys feel about this? Do you think Idris would make a good Bond?
Sep 1, 2015 I forgive him because he's a great writer. stupid choice of words though, and Idris should play Bond.
Sep 2, 2015 I think it's a bit of an overreaction. Not the best choice of words but it clearly wasn't his intention. Sick of how PC everyone is getting.
Sep 2, 2015 I agree it's an overreaction and poor choice of words, but IMO he's wrong. Idris would make a great 007.
Sep 2, 2015 I almost find it ironically racist that people assume he's referencing his skin colour when he says 'street'. I knew he was referencing the character he played straight away. If that makes sense.
Sep 2, 2015 You cant say s--- about black ppl these days without being labeled racist, he should know that
