Anybody from the sxn80 fam coach? Whether it's your job or volunteer?

I started coaching youth bball (3rd-5th) grade and finally jumped in for football this year 5th & 6th. I'm the defensive coordinator.

Just wondering if anyone else coaches here and if you don't mind sharing stories or things you do to help kids out.

Just finished our 2nd game and were 1-1 and heading in the right direction.

My 8th grade football coach was Vince Vaughn's uncle and he was the funniest f---ing guy ever. I remember on the way back from a game on the bus he told one of my friends this, "If you don't shut the f--- up I will kick you off the g.d. bus myself"

He was in his 70's, pronounced everyone's names wrong all season. He told one of our linemen he looked like a beached whale, we were running a drill and told 3 kids that they looked like they were having an orgy and that if they wanted that they should have called his sister. Was a fun year having him as asst. coach.

Anyway, I have never coached but in my opinion there is only so much you can do for younger age groups in sports. More about learning the game and having fun

Lmaooooooo that's goat.

Yeah this s----s fun. Watching these kids do things right and watching their confidence build is cool. We lost last week to a good team 14-6 and I was worried about how they'd bounce back but they did some improved amd we won 24-6

That's crazy man... I coach 8th grade Bball. This is my third year with the team since at our school we have 6th-8th. I have been moving up with them every year. We had a rough season last year, but I'm glad to say that we have a record of 2-0 right now.

One of my biggest things is trying to make them tough. They need to battle and want it even in the young stage of their life, it will help them later.

I find it rewarding and it keeps me young hahah...

word man,thats dope i hope yall have a great year. theres a good sized kid on our team that has low self esteem and is constantly crying because he gets knocked on his a--- alot but hes coming along i was babying his a--- at first but i got annoyed and told him to toughen up and he has been progressing.

(one of my goals is to have his confidence high by the time his season ends, he has an 8mile type of family background so his confidence is low right now)

Bruh you should do it even I'd it's flag football for 3rd graders. Whatever sport you enjoy. It's a fun thing and stuff you can put on your resume and stuff also

Very few things in life have given me as much joy and fulfillment as coaching soccer. I've always been into tactics and had great leadership qualities as a player so a lot of my peers always believed I'd end up being a coach eventually. Our youth soccer system here in Murica needs a strong grassroots foundation & education if we ever want to be a global force at the sport.

I started off volunteering as an assistant for my former high school last fall and it was a nice start to get to know the ropes of managing a group of kids and to get some solid experience. This spring I went solo and led a U-13 travel team to a league title, it was amazing seeing how my group progressed as players throughout the season. In the summer I took over my old premier travel team that I played for (once again U-13) and I was blessed with an extraordinary group of kids. After a near flawless season we went to the state finals and won the big prize, that s--- was something I'll never forget for the rest of my life.

One thing I'll always advise anyone taking up a position as a coach is that you gotta be truly in love with your respective sport, it transmits to your group that you do care and want to take things to the next level.

In high school I got to help the basketball coaches and give my input because I couldn't play. Basically I sat with them on the bench and practiced with them. I loved it. Made me miss the game so much tho.

Thinking about coaching flag football next summer. Not a bad job. Gonna make those little f---ers run.

In Grade 11 I did stats for the 9th grade basketball team. One time the coach (who was my Psych teacher) wanted me to address the team (can't remember why). Pretty sure it was all systems go in the panic stations as I said something very ordinary. Cracked under pressure when the young'uns were looking for some words of wisdom.

I coached high school football and track for a couple years in my early 20's. I might start doing it again.

There was a little n----- that let me down last week. Made em work hard this week of practice and he delivered big on game day. Im getting good at talking to these yougins. Ithink they listen to me over the older coaches since im younger and only real n----s can relate

let me set the background.

were sittiing at 3 -2 playing one of the best teams in the league. Its rainy cold football weather.
we have to win this gameor else we might not make the 4 team playoffs.

we start off ok, buut we cant score a key player gets hurt in the 2nd. were down 6 to 0 at half.
they score inthe 3rd again, were down 12 to 0. with like 5 min left in the 4th whenwe finally get our first td.
key player came back in mid 3rd when i taped his wrist up like a goat. that player kicks it to the one yard line where the oposing team fell on it. we stop them 3 & out they punt like 5 yards cause ofthe wind. we score quick with like 3 min left. miss the 2pt, 12-12. we stop thelm again! 150 onthe clock and we drive it, 4 sec left on the 4yd line, we had the slant but d--- wildcat qb didnt throw it. we go to OT we get the ball first and score, hurt kid makes the last 2 tackles on the game and we win.

crazy a--- game i thought we were done in the 3rd. these kids have alot of heart. im on top of the world right now.
