Film Best Posts: why are the third movies in a trilogy always considered bad or not as good as the first two?

    Revenge of the Sith is by far the best of the prequel trilogy for whatever that's worth.

    Return of the King
    Toy Story 3
    Pusher III
    Mission Impossible III
    Three Colors: Red
    Army of Darkness
    Lady Vengeance
    The Bourne Ultimatum

    I actually like a lot The Godfather III. Before Midnight is possibly the best third part ever. Die Hard 3 is the second best of the franchise. The Bourne Ultimatum is the best one and one of the greatest action films ever, and im a Dark Knight Rises defendor

    Can't remember another good third part. I dont count films such as the dollars trilogy

    Because the third movies in the franchises you mentioned are terrible.

    There are plenty of others where the third is just as good or better.

    You can't have 2 movies "hype" up this imperial army, only to have them get their s--- pushed in by 2 foot tall furballs with sticks.
