Sep 10, 2015 Because he has 1 classic album in GKMC, and one of the most overrated rap albums of the last 5 years in TPAB.
Sep 10, 2015 lmfao so people who've sat with biggie's music for over 15 years are still overhyping it, and you're in the right calling Kendrick top 3 of all time? yeah f---in okay
Sep 10, 2015 Young Thug is one of the greatest rappers alive, if that insults you than the Kendrick comparisons should as well
Sep 10, 2015 Well if I think he can and so many others around the world think he can too then why can't he? It's just my opinion against yours. At the end of the day both are hugely respected, almost as much as each other (Biggie is still more respected), but given that, there's no reason Kendrick can't go down as an all time great.
Sep 10, 2015 it's so maddeningly stupid to say that big and pac are rated so highly because they're dead. bruh, do you know how many dead rappers there are? do you know how many of them were genuinely great, but aren't fixtures in greatest-of-all-time discussions? pac and big are there because they deserve to be, and if you disagree you're setting out to be a massive contrarian or you're not well-versed in their catalogs.
Sep 10, 2015 Im not saying theyre overhyping the music, Im saying Biggie is judged unfairly because he released two classics and died and therefore never had a fully fledged career.
Sep 10, 2015 Dear or alive, full career or not.. it doesn't change the quality of the music he did make
Sep 10, 2015 Apparently BIG's two albums don't count as a career because he got shot, but Kendrick's two albums certify him as top 3 already.
Sep 10, 2015 I wasn't really trying to say it that way, I wasn't trying to say people overrate them because they're dead, I'm saying they're rated higher than most because their careers were so short but amazing. It's like how Nas first two albums were also legendary but because he also released a handful of bad albums he's viewed as worse than Pac/Big. If Nas died after his second album he'd be as respected.
Sep 10, 2015 I'm usually a every day purchaser of goods involving Kendrick hype. But when I get on this forum and n----s telling me he is borderline top 3, while discrediting BIG?
Sep 10, 2015 i know you champion life after death, but i think ur spidey sense is off. its a bit bogged down by its commercial, mid to late 90s pop instincts, and nowhere near the artistic achievement of ready to die. turn off the nostalgia blinders pls also, again knowing ur entrenched pov here this is almost moot, but ur way off on ur characterization of tpab. granted its likely the worst of the four albums, but its not the punchline u describe. not sure its rly fair to compare it to either big album, as both have enjoyed the luxury of aging and carry alot of weight that are incidental to the albums themselves
Sep 10, 2015 Look mate, this is getting boring repeating myself time after f---ing time. I'm sorry if I may have offended you but just take some time to look at my side of the argument. The question put forward is "If Kendrick died NOW who would he compare to?" And because he's released two albums which IN MY OPINION are as good as BIGs two, if Kendrick released nothing else (because he'd be dead) and have no opportunity to drop off, his legacy would compare. That's all I'm trying to say, it's a fair argument and this s--- storm is so unnecessary.
Sep 10, 2015 Fair enough. Opinion = opinion. Just make sure you listen to other people's argument as you expect them to listen to yours.. and you should be fine
