Kanye does have missteps in his career, but he hasn't fallen off in any sense like Em has. Eminem made bad songs during his prime as well, but you're going to be forgiven for a few clunkers if 95% of your music is good during a given period.

Every single one of Kanye's albums are good, great, or classic except for Cruel Summer (which a lot of people discount because it's a label album, but I don't think that's fair considering it's his project and he's on over half of it). 90% of the people who think 808s/Yeezus are bad albums are people who aren't open to things that don't sound like traditional rap—I know because I used to be one of them. It wasn't until a few years ago when I started really getting into music that I gave 808s another chance and liked it.

Show me the Kanye album that's as universally panned as Relapse or Encore (or even Recovery).

This. Topics only interesting if you explain why. Otherwise you seem like a blind fan.
This to. I never understood the hate for Yeezus. Album is brilliant. People hated on 808's back in the day to. Flash forward 7 years later and it is universally praised, not just for being a great album, but for changing the landscape of hip hop. 808's paved the way for artists like Drake & Cudi. Looking at Yeezus, the same thing happened, so I can't really take the criticism seriously. Yeezys just ahead of his time. Give it a few years, Yeezus will be praised as a classic.

Edit: I would also say there is a parallel between Eminem and Ye here. During the time of they're release, both were misunderstood by critics and listeners alike. They sold well and are giants in the industry no doubt, but a lot of people just didn't "get it" when it came to they're music. Em's early work was fantastic however as we all know, it received a lot of criticism for being homophobic and misogynistic. I always viewed Em's 'Slim Shady' songs as a satire. They poked fun at the darkest parts of society as well as the worst parts of himself, and they did so in a comedic way so we could all have fun singing along with it. He also excelled at Anthem songs such as Lose Yourself, and dark, rage filled tracks about his past. Em was brutally honest with his lyrics, and that sparked controversy. Looking at Kanye's career, He has seen similar criticism. His controversial statements as well as his stunts (many performed on live TV) may be viewed as performance art. His music has always been ahead of it's time, such is the case of 808's and Yeezus. However he is also able to play on what is popular, and create albums loved by the masses, such as "The College Dropout" & "MBDTF". Both artists received harsh criticism for their art, misunderstood by many at the time of release. Only in hindsight do those same critics see they're brilliance.
