I find it hard to differentiate him between now and then popularity wise. I find now he's at the end of his career he almost gets recognized now for his talent and the fact he's been so big for so long. Whereas back then he was huge for his talent again and his level of controversy.

I'd say his prime he was bigger but I find the nostalgia of what he's done over his career maintains him at a level quite similar. I dunno if I'm makin sense I'm tired right now.

I was very young when he was in his prime. But I knew who he was, my parents did, everyone did. I can't say my parent know any of the rappers today. (except for Kanye who I tried to get them into :laff:)

Yeah. But I remember the pandemonium surrounding Em in 2002, during The Eminem Show. Without Me was everywhere, and my local Best Buy had sold out.

When I was in high school, he was literally one of the only thing talked about. All the teachers hated him, it was hilarious.

It was like a snowball. From when he released SSLP to Encore, it was insane. Every year it got bigger and bigger. Some argue MMLP is at his peak, but I'd argue the Eminem Show + 8 Mile 1-2 year hold with Get Rich or Die Trying was him at his hugest. Every song got played, everything with eminem. What I mean by that is the diss tracks he made, that sometimes were pretty bad, was still considered gold by people. 8 Mile was the biggest moment in his life I'd argue. From the second Lose Yourself came out to the movie release, people of all ages, races, and gender were listening to him. I could remember even my pops listening to him in this time frame. Sometime I can't say for now or MMLP days.

Overall, at his prime, 2002-2003, nobody was touching this man. He could release s--- and people would eat it up = encore. But when he released Eminem Show + 8 Mile mostly everyone f----- with eminem. Now days older people don't listen to Em much. Back then, everyone of all ages did. That's the difference.

I envy you guys, but I live in a s-----y country so :emoji_slight_frown: The only songs that played here were Without Me and Candy Shop by 50 cent, and those are the one I remember. 50 was more popular than him but still not that popular.
And people will always listen to Em and buy his records cause they want to hear what he has to say. He'll always sell good till the day he dies or quits with rap.

In the beginning he was always putting solo albums and stuff like that cause he wanted to prove that he deserves his place in the rap music. Now,he just wants to give that same opportunity to his label mates and other rappers signed to Shady. That's what i think. And maybe he's just tired. He releases every couple years just not te be forgotten and plus rap is all he how to do.So we'll hear from him till he dies

I was in middle school/high school during his prime, and he was ridiculously huge.

He was a phenomenon. Everything the guy did, was talked about at school, on the news, or where ever.

    It was insane, looking back.

Every song, I swear, people would listen like "What the f--- is this guy going to say next?"

You'd tune in to the VMA's, and wanted to see how he interacted with all of the people he dissed, or his performances.

There was always a ton of suspense revolving around Eminem's albums (mainly MMLP, TES and Encore).

After Encore, it really dropped dramatically, and 50 Cent kind of became "the guy".

The only other artists I can think of who were on his level were like Britney Spears and NSYNC.

I remember this dude absolutely shut down Times Square during TRL (which was a crazy popular TV show at the time)

I was in elementary school during his prime and really knew nothing about rap in any way shape or form. But I did know em, I remember when my name is was all over mtv.. To say he was popular is an understatement the guy was enormous
