you could certainly argue that Summertime 06 or future's work collectively makes a better case for "album of the year" but there's little doubt that this is the best rapping performance of this year, and one of the best of the decade.

nah because "album of the year" implies some sort of broader impact, and the slime seasons (and barter 6 mostly) haven't really had that. conversely, future has bent much of popular rap into his orbit. thug's work collectively might be better, but it's not greater.

i agree. future's work was just more important. put it this way: as great as ka's album was this year, it barely made a ripple on rap outside of a tiny segment of new york and some reverent corners of the internet. even if it were the year's best rap album, it wouldn't be the greatest.

right, so you look at "album of the year" from a more holistic pov than just in a vacuum like i do. which makes sense considering ur line of work...but speaking pure quality thug's put out like 3 of the years top 10 projects lol. crazy.

it's not even just a line of work thing: "album of the year" implies some sort of impact, i think. i don't think you can or should dig down past the third-best record of the year to find it, though.

when ever is say "album of the year" im really prefacing it with "best" not "greatest" or w/e as you were saying.

"best" doesnt have to have any implication of impact, right?
