Oct 17, 2015There's already a sneaker collection thread but I thought I'd make this to get some activity going in this new section. Anyways here's a little backstory to my collection, when I was younger my parents really couldn't afford the dope retro Jordans so I was always stuck with the Team Jordans. Fast forward a couple of years to me being 16 and I finally get my first job. Did the typical circle of poverty thing and chose instant gratification over long term gratification. Spent most of my first two years worth of pay on clothes/sneakers. Managed to build a pretty decent collection in the process though, had to sell some when college rolled around because I didn't have enough money for a car, but I still have some of my favorites left. Don't worry though, I'm good now. Got a decent savings account and managed to buy a nice/reliable car. I just turned 21 and I've probably only bought between 5 and 10 pieces of footwear in the last 3 years. Ok, lets go.
Day 1: Reebok x Burn Rubber "Apollo Young" Questions
Copped these a couple of years ago I'm pretty sure. It's a collaboration between Reebok and Burn Rubber, a sneaker boutique in Michigan. The shoe model is the Question, Allen Iverson's first shoe with Reebok from back in the day. Haven't rocked them yet but I really appreciate the detailing in the shoe itself. The toe box is burgundy suede with hits of ostrich skin leather and regular leather throughout. The quality is great on both the leather and the suede. Interior is a teal silky material, what really sold me though was the dark blue icy bottom. One of my biggest pet peeves with sneakers is icy bottoms, its a love/hate relationship. It looks so nice, yet as I'm sure many of you know, it turns piss yellow after time. Regardless of whether you wear them or not, luckily these are more dark blue as opposed to the regular clear rubber icy soles. Took these pics today and after 2 years they still look good as new.

Nori is like a chameleon. He goes from Stan-Nori, to Papi-Nori, to Gay-Nori, to Sensual-Nori to Sneakerhead-Nori.
Nori, is there anything he can't do? -

Day 3: Timberland x Stussy 2014
Picked these up last winter, they released a couple of years ago on eBay but I found them for a decent price. Its a collaboration between Stussy and Timberland. Basic black timb with Stussy logo on the tongue. Zippers on the inside, pull tabs on the back, and gold Timberland logo. Gum sole too. Rocker these a couple of times, I have wheat pair as well but they're a half size too big

Day 5: KD VII "Aunt Pearl"
My first breast cancer shoe. Kevin Durant has been dedicating a colorway to his aunt for the past few KD models now. Aunt Pearl was the person who took care of Kevin alongside his grandma since his mother was mostly working all the time so that she could support the family. Aunt Pearl passed away from breast cancer in 2000 and this has been Kevin's way of keeping her memory alive. The shoe its self is extremely detailed, the inner tongue has the tattoo that KD has on his back, wing straps are featured on the shoe with a small dedication to his aunt under them. Kay Yow logo on the back and gold Nike swoosh on the front o the shoe. Gold KD logo on the tongue as well, haven't rocked these yet but I look forward to it. They look really "elegant" to me lol

Day 4: Jordan 3 "Black Flip"
Picked these up 4 years ago during my junior year high school in 2011. For any of you familiar with the Jordan 3, you know about elephant print, this is a typical Jordan 3 except the elephant print is reversed. Rather than feature accents of elephant print on the heel and toebox and a leather upper, the elephant print is reversed and become the upper instead. Interior is extremely premium leather, especially for a Jordan release considering their quality was booty at the time. Only wore these once so far but the interior still smells like brand new car leather.

Day 2: Nike Zoom Rookie LWP "Glow"
Now these I actually remember really well. It was around this time 3 years ago and I was a high school senior. For anyone who's not familiar with the game, sneakers usually drop on a Saturday. Except these puppies, they dropped on a Thursday and they were a "quick strike" which meant they were fairly limited and dropped on short notice. They only dropped at House of Hoops, now I'm in the NY suburbs about 45 minutes away from Manhattan and the nearest HOHs are in Manhattan and on 125th in Harlem lol. Anyways, I had seen early review videos of these and had been obsessing over them for the couple of weeks before they dropped, I had to have them but my mom wouldn't let me miss school. My mom though, being the real one that she is, actually went to 125th and lined up with the sneaker crowd for an hour or two just so I could get them. Unfortunately by the time it was her turn they were all sold out. MSRP was 220 I believe since it was a foam shoe, but I ended up copping off eBay for $400 the day after. Totally worth it. Only worn these about 2 times but they're by far my favorite shoe in my collection. I think they go for like $700 now but I would never sell these.
This sneaker is a hybrid of Penny Hardaway's Foamposite One, Air Flight One, and Air Go LWP. The pearl colored material you see is called "foam", its the reason the shoe has such a high price point. Its tight at first but after a certain amount of wears it starts molding to your foot, proving maximum comfort. The rest is some black nubuck with a mesh bootie. Outsole is a translucent smoked out icy sole with a carbon fiber plate that also drives up the price

good intro and lovely description of the shoe as well. the red suede is really what makes the shoe, looks nice from those side views.
admire you for not really wearing them over two years. don't think I could ever buy shoes just to "have them" lol
