Oct 24, 2015 didnt know where to post this and didnt wanna make a thread... anyways after listening to blueprint 3 for a bit i noticed Kendrick paid homage to this record off Blueprint 3 on King Kunta http://genius.com/1272254
Oct 25, 2015 Yes absolutely....in a hip hop album category 90059 really captures that old school hip hop sound...to me at least
Oct 25, 2015 DS2? Yes I've listened to it, and I enjoy it like I said previously. It succeeds for what future was aiming for. But Kendrick aimed a lot higher in terms of lyrical depth, scope, and many other levels. I didn't mean to sound snotty, I was just asking what the themes were because I simply don't know.I'm all for honest discussions, I would just have a hard time agreeing that DS2 deserves a grammy over TPAB. And also, I don't think there's any "hidden meanings" on TPAB, it's all fairly overt if you just listen to it.
Oct 25, 2015 Well there is a song called "trap n-----" and he does talk about drinking lean quite a bit no? I can't really comprehend everything he was saying, so please enlighten me.
Oct 25, 2015 Drug abuse, lust, love, loss, disillusionment, being institutionalized (from a different pov than Kendrick), his origins/upbringing..etc
Oct 25, 2015 see and this is why i'm not giving any weight to what you say about the record. it's a breakup album that's also about the anxiety and disillusionment of having a friend in jail in the middle east.
