yg already has

cozz isn't a bad pick, neither is mick jenkins, though the latter is less likely than the former imo.

logic will not. travis scott will not. joey badass will not. none of them are good enough at rapping. and stop talking about young lean.

vince almost definitely will, though i think there's a chance the debut goes down as a classic either way. earl seems close behind him, and his album from this year is actually within shouting distance as well.

big krit won't because he's too reverent to his influences. he's talented on both sides of the board but it always feels like he's making fan fiction, and that spark of originality isn't something you develop a half-decade into your career.

kendrick already has one, not sure why he's being mentioned.

drake never will because he's not interested in making a classic rap album. (he's also probably not capable, but that's beside the point.)

herb already has.

i'd say gibbs made a classic in boxframe, but he'll probably make another one. @Charlie Strangelove

thug has made a stone-cold masterpiece in the rich g--- tape. i honestly don't know if he's going to make a classic solo lp, though. it's 50/50. i see @artYe saying he needs to keep growing to do so, but that's obviously not the case.

i'll bet pusha t has a classic album locked away somewhere and has been convinced he needs to make My Name Is My Name in order to stay relevant. so who knows.

jon connor is central casting's mixtape rapper. he never will.

i see this @Xmipod guy saying schoolboy q has made a classic, which....i mean, Habits and Contradictions is good? he's never made a classic. (but then he said current-day royce and eminem are in the running and scoffed at young thug so, you know, that's how it goes.)

i don't know about isaiah rashad. i thought Cilvia Demo showed a lot of skill, but he has a tiny bit of the krit syndrome going, where i listen to him and get the itch to just listen to his influences instead.

Here are my candidates:

JOEY BADASS

This guy is only 20, he still has a lot of potential. I really liked B4.DA.$$ and some of his other projects. This is probably a crazy guess and he could probably steer away from the mainstream music in the future. But I like the potential of this guy.

VINCE STAPLES

I feel like this might be a popular one because he is well liked among this forum, plus Summertime 06 was a really good album. I found that predicting classics is a very hard thing to do, you kind of have to take a wild guess, this one I feel a little confident in.

YG

My Krazy Life was a really good album, in fact some people actually regard it a classic....when it isn't. I believe that we have not seen the best of YG yet and that he can go one better than My Krazy Life and just sneak an album into the classic category.



And obviously Drake is another candidate for those who don't consider Take Care as a classic, but it's no fun predicting Drake. ;D I want people to make more daring predictions.

Others that I've ignored: Future, ASAP Rocky & Young Thug (sorry Narsh), they will continue to make great projects but, in my opinion, their ceiling would not consist of classic material - I wouldn't mind kicking me in the face and proving me wrong.

You're first 2 are pretty good candidates. I'm not familiar enough with YG to comment on him. I don't f--- with much of the new school so it's hard for me to think of much more candidates.
