A lot of these domestic attacks are done by radicalised people from within the country. You can bomb Syria even more but I don't see it solving much. IS isn't launching rockets from Syria to Europe

These domestic extremists aren't much different from your typical school shooters. They're often young men feeling generally without a purpose. They want to be a part of something big and special. A sense of importance etc. It's easy for them to be brainwashed. Honestly it can be as simple as they feel it's cool and honourable to join or help the glorious Islamic State for them.

There needs to serious de-radicalisation programs. This sort of thing is hard to stop until these young men break out of the mentality that being a warrior for IS and waging Jihad against the West is an attractive thing. It's just a phase in history

I took breaks in between but about 1 and a half hours. Saw some things I agreed with and some things that just seemed out of place/not the right time to say.

As the details emerged with each page I clicked on my stomach sunk.

i remember that guy. he wound up running away, making headlines (which is f---ing so stupid because the dumb media c---- are just promoting isis at that point) and then he was in a rigged van that he blew up prematurely and just ended up killing himself & no one else.

why didn't that get as much coverage as him joining?

Yeah it's stupid. It's the same as every mass shooter having their face/name plastered everywhere after they do it. Only really advertises/glorifies them. If the media really wanted to shame them, they'd blur out their face and just say something like "this guys a real piece of s--- so we're gonna forget he ever existed" and then never speak of the actual person again.

that's the thing tho, if someone said "we know who the shooter is..but we're not telling you" the next magazine/news source would say "HAH WE GOT IT TOO AND WE'RE NOT HIDING IT" for hits/views. the whole business of internet content creation has rly checkmated itself when it comes to news and information. this stuff gets widespread coverage across the globe and kids who dont get enough attention will no doubt see this as a way to achieve that. especially with the way everything has been going lately with mass shootings and terrorist attacks. f---, even since the boston bombing. when rolling stone put dude as the cover that was a huge mistake. not even on a moral "thats repulsive, he's a monster" level, just on the basic "you're giving him glory which is what that fa---- wanted, you're now encouraging other kids who wanted attention to go out and get it by any means necessary because they know their photo will be the f---ing cover of the rolling stone magazine" level.

but the internet is a business in the 2010s and thats how business works, unfortunately. it's opportunistic and short term.
