I'm scrolling through twitter rn and some media say the passports didn't belong to the attackers but to the victims.

All my Facebook friends have that French flag filter on their profile pic, I salute the effort but I'm quite shocked by the whole world showing their support to France while terrorist attacks against Arab and black African countries are being ignored since decades.

People 'care' more about this attack as it is very close to home and is very relatable to all of the West. Everybody knows Paris in some form and it was completely unexpected that an attack this big could happen in such a secure civilized western city. It's not because the deaths actually matter or mean more than terrorist attacks elsewhere.

Yeah I know it's more "decent" to start talking about that stuff some weeks after the events and to show sympathy for the victims at first but I can't really show empathy and be sad to something like that when I know it's happening constantly.
