I'll literally never forget the first time I heard this.

I had just moved out my apartment in LA to stay at my mom's friend's mansion in Apple Valley (about an hour out of LA). It was Christmas break and the three kids at the house had left to their dad's house for a week and the mom had also just left the country.

so I'm in this mansion by myself for a week which led to me slutting out on tinder for a bit. so anyways, I'm preparing my room and s--- before my tinder match pulls up at the cribbo. she was supposed to come at 11PM but she was late af so I cut the lights and laid down and threw on an episode of "orange is the new black".

episode finishes. midnight hits. I take a quick section eighty break but little did I know, I was going in for the greatest first time listening experience of my life.

I had taken the full surround sound system from the living room and set it up in my own room so I was ready. as I began to listen at full volume, I almost couldn't handle how gorgeous the song was. the beauty of the song is borderline incomprehensible.

it was certainly a tear jerking experience.

yeah, ended up having to leave the house at like 12:30 to go intercept her since she could find the place.

we watched a movie in the living room then took her back to my room. first thing I did was show her Only One then I turned the lights off and put my phone on shuffle and got head for about 6 songs

it was a great new years

yup....i kno u probably remember my first time listening to only one story lol

drunk as s--- 4 am, after politely partying n s--- all night instead of locking myself in some1s room to listen to da new kanye

and just being carried into sleep by the most beautiful lullaby id ever heard...almost brought me to tears tbh

n the next day i wrote 2000 words about it, on my phone, on the bus back to boston, for our blog

i also still think theres a reason behind how out of tune and s--- he sings it...after the performances live and the music video that interjects the song w/ his offkey singing etc

i tried to write about it for our blog, and we published it, but the ideas were kind of jumbled for sure...its like hes trying to emphasize that its a lullaby meant for his daughter. it doesnt matter how technically/traditionally sound u are, its how emotive something is that matters

the way macca has it play out in the end is f---ing tearjerking everytime.....its like just imagine being on the brink of sleep, upset about unresolved issues, and ur mom comes into ur dreams. cept ur not dreaming, ur still kinda awake. so its mad surreal. and she just talks you through EVERYTHING. calls u ur childhood nickname. comforts you. praises you. sings you to sleep

Forgot how amazing this song is. Feel sorry for Kanye the way he lost his mother. Of course most people are close to there mother but Kanye was especially close to her.
