Nov 22, 2015Ohhh a new Eminem thread. How great, huh?
and no I'm not @Immy or @DMX and it may come as a surprise, but other people can make threads as well.
Basically, the idea of the thread is to summarize Eminem's life/career/last 20 years in one album. You can use whatever songs you want and in whatever order you want. No need to be chronological or whatever. Only limitation is to keep it around 20-22 songs. If your tracklist comes with a little explanation, it will be cool, but who am I to give you orders.
THIS IS NOT TOP 20 EMINEM'S SONGS OR YOUR FAVOURITE EMINEM SONGS.
Think about it like this, if you were Eminem and wanted to explain your life through a certain number of songs which song would you choose? Something like biography of the artist.
Ok, my list

I just included the tracks about his life.
DISC 01
01-Infinite ( first Em song ever in a studio album)
02-It's OK (him talking about his struggles )
03-Backstabber (him talking about a guy tryin' to f--- Kim or something like that in '95)
04-Rock Bottom (the stress and anger brought about by poverty and the struggles of raising a little girl under those conditions)
05-Just Don't Give A f--- (after people critisized him for sounding like AZ & Nas, his answer to them and debut of a style for Em )
06-Who Knew (Eminem’s way of ridiculing those who believe his music causes fans to commit ridiculous acts. Throughout the song Eminem takes a satirical approach to the criticism of his negative influence on the youth, while simultaneously pointing out other, more important factors.)
07-The Way I Am (result of the record company putting pressure on Em to create a poppy first single for the albüm etc..)
08-Marshall Mathers (a direct reaction to the turmoil his life went in to after the release and runaway success of The Slim Shady LP, most notably the lawsuit his mother Debbie Mathers brought against him for defamation due to the way she was portrayed on that first record.)
09-Cleanin' Out My Closet ( about his father abandoning him as a child, his turbulent affair with his ex-wife Kim, and his irreparably damaged relationship with his mother Debbie.)
10-Soldier (In it, he talks about his dealings with the law because of his weapons charges, and how he isn’t afraid to use a gun. Later, he talks about his greatness in the rap game.)
11-Say Goodbye Hollywood (kinda sequel to Soldier)
12-Without Me ( him realizing his importance in the game)
13-Sing For The Moment (While addressing his effect on youth of the world, Em touched on his altercation with bouncer John Guerrera – claiming to have punched him, rather than “pistol whipped” him as Guerrera claimed.
14-Hailie's Song (After a tough battle, Em won custody of his beloved daughter Hallie over her mother, his ex-wife Kim. That battle and the joy he felt in winning was the inspiration for this song.)
15-Yellow Brick Road
16-Like Toy Solders
17-Mockingbird
18-Love You More
DISC 02
01-Deja Vu
02-Beautiful
03-Careful What You Wish For

Thanks to genius by the way I took many descriptions because I was so lazy to write myself, ended upstop giving descriptions lol :DByczu, Reed Richards, Immy and 4 others like this. - Nov 18, 2025

17. I'm stuck between Difficult and Beautiful
18. Careful What You Wish For
19. My Darling
20. Going Through Changes
21. Not Afraid

23. Im stuck between Fine Line and So Far...
My reasoning: First I'd say eight tracks represent everything he's gone through up until he became famous, from the poverty and hopelessness to the false sense hopefulness along with stuff he's been through. It was, as he's expressed before, a ton of ups and downs.
Lose Yourself leads way to the birth of Slim Shady which is what really paved the way for his life to change so I thought itd be important. I felt the growing vitriol was more important because from there obviously things descend between tracks 9-12 as it expresses his true vitriol to the world around him, including the track "Marshall Mathers" which is the highlight of the album for me.
between tracks 13 - 17 the vitriol continues and it juggles the personal side of Em's life with family and friends and introduces new personal demons
from track 16-21 it toys with his downward spiral of the mid 2000's, and I added Rain Man because it's definitely ironic symbolism for the state he was in. This slap happy mask he put on to cover all of the s--- going on deep down inside. I was stuck between Difficult and Beautiful because while Difficult is a much more raw look at the actual state he was in, Beautiful is a well polished demonstration/
21-23 are somewhat self explanatory, they tell the story of where he's at currently well but the thing is I'm not sure what note I wanted it to end on. I feel like Fine Line (and Shady XV) is a very depressing way to end but it's also where he's at now with his seclusion, and something tells me despite everything dude has he still feels somewhat miserable and trapped. So Far on the other hand tells the exact opposite because it is where he is So Far and you can also kind of tell he's a lot happier and healthier and the upbeat tone of the track kind of seems like where he's at too, which is the result of why his music doesnt have the same passion as it used to.
f--- this was long, my bad folks. I wish I could put more tracks on it because When I'm Gone, Love You More and a few other tracks def have a place but oh well. Can't get em all right?Nov 18, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -
