In my opinion Kendrick is more lyrically proficient than J Cole and this is likely to be displayed on most songs they make together.
I'm just hoping that Kendrick will bring out the best in Cole when they work on this project together. Also, hopefully Cole will do the same for Kendrick. On their album I don't really want to see them trying to outdo each other on every track, but instead compliment each other. Of course people will compare anyway, but if they both try to compliment and bring out the best in each other then the album will come out really well I think.asvdawg, Ordinary Joel, Criza Malone Hamilton and 9 others like this. -

Lotta valid criticisms of cole, hes been a lazy lyricist throughout the majority of his albums. Coles song selection for his albums is terrible, drops some of his best s--- for free. He always matches his really good songs with some horrible ones. But, i see this album working because of Kendricks vision and attention to detail. Kendrick will most likely elevate coles rhymes back to his FNL days. Also, Kendrick sounds amazing over cole beats - hiiipower prolly a top 5 Kendrick song. It won't be renegade from top to bottom but Kendrick will obviously go off on tracks. Cole will prolly help Kendrick make things less dense and more direct, easier to listen to.Ordinary Joel, tiiico, Fire Squad and 4 others like this. -

Don't like Cole, why you here? Those are the same regurgitated statements I always see on everything about Cole. Whenever someone complains about his beats/production skills, I just shrug that off because whether it's boring to you at least all his beats sound different in different song. DJ Mustard, THAT guy uses THE EXACT SAME PATTERN FOR ALL THE BEATS HE MAKES. I can't explain the noise, but it first appeared on Rack City. I heard a Big Sean song that he produced and I swore to God I thought that it was a remix or something because it was the very same beat, but slowed down more. And Cole has versatile subjects, I think people who say that never heard of Lost Ones, Problems, Enchanted, 2 Face, Lil Ghetto n----- ETC. He does not always rap about money, b------s and whatever else that's in the Hip-Hop Starter Kit's of arguments. (I swear that should be a thing)
No, I don't think Kendrick will Renegade Cole. Someone mentioned that Cole and K.Dot are the ying and yang and this collab album will bring out the best of both. I couldn't quote all of them, but there was some valid points made hereJakey, threee, Ordinary Joel and 4 others like this. -

We all know what Em did to Jay. Now while I agree that it's all about enjoying the music, there will inevitably be comparisons between Kendrick and of Cole's MC skills, there will be no way around it, especially because it's gonna be a whole LP. Personally I find Cole's music to be more enjoyable sonically and overall, his attempts at lyricism can appear kind of lazy sometimes though.
Cole : Why I do a lotta shows ? I'm the s---, that's it, got suicidal doors ,just slit my wrists.
K : To be the God MCs, you know me well...rolling deep in that paper lile 2 adeles.
Listening to Temptations, I get the same feeling. I really like Cole's smooth flow on it, maybe even slighty more than Kenny's but Kendrick goes off on his verse.
I just can't see Kendrick getting bodied.

No one is going to get bodied.
IMO this has potential to be one of the best collab projects ever. They are so complimentary to each other.
