    The ending of that video was exactly one year ago today. It was kind of crazy that he showed up while most of our student body was gone for break. He stood out there for a long time, signing stuff and he signed my album. Glad my school featured in the video though. Good times.

    Fayetteville's hometown rap hero J. Cole is bringing his talents to HBO. The network announced Thursday (Dec. 3) that the J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming special will air Saturday, Jan. 9 from at 10 p.m. ET.

    The presentation will include cameos from special guests Jay Z and Drake, as well as the live renditions of the 13 tracks from his third studio effort, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. His biggest offerings from the LP include "Wet Dreamz," "No Role Modelz" and "A Tale of 2 Citiez." The platinum set helped the Dreamville Records founder earn his third consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 350,000 copies in its first week last December.

    The homecoming affair is described as "part concert film, part backstage pass" and will tell "his compelling life story through Cole’s own words and music, and through the observations of those who know him best," according to the release.

    Scott Lazer has signed on as director while Cole and Dreamville president Ibrahim Hamad will serve as executive producers. The special will also be available on HBO Now and HBO GO.

    That s--- was special, but I didn't expect anything less. I feel like that entire special really highlighted Cole's element and what he stands for.

    Finally got to watch just now. Man. I don't know what to say. I didn't get to go to the tour cuz of exams, but as I watched in my uni room, I really sang most of the songs like I was at the show lmao. This man is simply amazing. 03' was one the songs I didn't care for first first couple listens of the album, but my n----- THAT PERFORMANCE made it my top 2. Sums up how GOAT he is live. Tale of 2 Citiez chorus shot :sweatt:. The transitions from songs to talking to people in the city was my favourite part. I've always know Cole's story about the Ville but this was done so well that even if you never knew him or the town, it was told and shown perfectly. When they showed Craig and they talked about him being in jail, I instantly thought he was the dude Cole always talked about in his songs over the years :lol6:. My other favourite moment was Kay Cole. I swear, I was THIS CLOSE to shedding real thugs tears :sad2::sad2::sad2:. If they had let Melissa talk, I might have lost it then loool. Drake and Hov coming out was still so sick even tho I have watched youtube videos of this like 104 times lool. The closing with Love Yourz was perfect. This whole thing was perfect. And now I'm back to listening to this album until I graduate. Thank you Cole.
