this debate isn't going to work because a majority of the people who don't like Em on this forum use the "if you like Em still you need to listen to more rappers" excuse, which is stupid because there are many Em fans to listen to a many different artists. and a majority of the people who are still stans on this forum use the "You're just a hater" excuse, which is equally as stupid since some people just don't like Eminem and/or prefer other artists over him

    this will go in circles.

SIGN UP TO THE BEST EMINEM FORUM

We all know that Mr. Mathers can't rap to save his life. To support my thesis, I have provided some opinions of several guys who might sound familiar to you. Now to be fair : In defense of these people.. these guys don't have half the authority or half the knowledge that some members of this forum have. So we have to put it all into context.

Kool G- Rap : There are some young cats that are really good but you have to understand something, in order to impress me, you need more than that. The last rapper that blew me away was Em. Anybody that's ever sat and fronted on this dude's talent is l i ke c'mom man, Stop playing me.

Nas : He contributes so much musically and lyrically, he's amazing

Kanye West : Nobody's gonna be bigger than Eminem. When I heard his verse on forever I went back to the studio to rewrite mine for 2 days.

Rakim : Eminem would be the Muhammad Ali of Rap. I don't care what color he is, real respects real.

Scarface : I'm not fine to f--- with that boy on a track, man.

    Snoop Dogg
: When Eminem was on Jay-Z's record, he f----- him up completely. You know which record I am talking about

Jay. Z : The only rappers that could fight with me over the "Best rapper alive-title" are Em and Nas
To a "Best-rappers-list" that left out Eminem : I think you would do the credibility of your magazine justice if you included Eminem.

Lupe Fiasco : I can't f--- with Eminem, but I got everybody else covered.

Ice T : It was like listening to a scientist.

Kurupt : Eminem might have sold millions of records But as an MC dawg, he's underrated.

Slug : If you hated on Eminem, you were just a hater. When he got big, that's when the backslash started but it was never based on him as an MC.

Redman : My hat's always off to Eminem. I rank him up there with Biggie and Nas.

Big D. Kane : I consider myself as one of the Top 3 lyricists of all time. But I'm not mad if yoz choose Em or Nas cuz they are incredible too. But we paved the way.

Run D MC : Listening to Rap god : Wow.. wow.

Treach : Me and Em on a record. We would take it to the next level

Ice Cube : I think it's great that sb like Eminem is making sure that lyrics still rule.

Dr. Dre : When I first heard his demo tape, I thought it was incredible. I was talking to Jimmy and I was like "Find him, now".

50 cent : Hip Hop is black music. And unfortunately it's tough to accept for some people that a white artist does it better. It its what it is. You can take every rapper and stand em up against Em, He's gon eat that MFer alive, I'll bet you everything that I have.

Progidy : My fav song is prolly Lose yourself. I can relate to it a lot, it's like do or die.

Buckshot : It was almost like the mic was smoking after what I just saw. This was early Em so you can only imagine the fire he would approach things with

P.Monch : : What can you say man, I was almost in loss for words. Em has pushed the envelope and limits. And what's great is that he does it even in his popular songs.

The Game : The best rapper infinity is Eminem. You want me say something against Jay ? I will but not Em.I don't think there's any rapper he won't slay.

Kendrick : Nobody can't match Eminem. He's one of the greats, I can't take it from him, new artists can't
He definetely influenced a lot of my style

    J. Cole : It's silly how big of an Eminem fan I am. My first song literally sounded like an Eminem bite.
He#s still amazing. There was a select list of rappers I worshipped and he was at the top.

    Big Sean
: I grew up on Em, Big & Pac. When you rhyme with him, you otta bring your A- Game.

Tech n9ne : Probably the best rapper I've ever heard when it comes to lyrics and emotions.

Schoolboy Q : Eminem is not like any other rapper, I just sat there and listened, this is a dude that done been from nothing to something, I just soaked up game

Jon Connor : I grew up on guys like Royce and Eminem, still ones of my favorite rappers of all time.

Chris Rivers : Growing up, I listened to a crazy amount of Eminem.
    (Big Pun's son)

Tyler t. C. : Eminem will always be my favorite rapper of all time.

Drake : "Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to make noise for the greatest of all time : Eminem"

I wanna come into the thread and defend em (saying he is overrated in 2015 is asinine imo) but most Eminem fans are the reason people hate him. Like half y'alls reasoning is so dumb.. And you all rarely every get the point I feel like. Then you have people who try entirely too hard to discredit em and refuse to give him props in areas he still shine. But again, Eminem is Eminem for a reason.. He's certainly not overrated in 2015. He's still one of the best pure rappers alive right now.. His issue is soley a sonic issue. He overdoes technical rapping to the point where it is unlistenable. Doesn't make him a worse rapper - just destroys replay value and shrinks his fan base. He's become a one trick pony and lost the total package he once had as an artist. Now he's primarily a rapper, who just raps for the sake of rhyming. Which is cool it's his career he can do what he wants he has 0 to prove to a cluster of 20-30 year olds on a f---ing rap forum who think they know more about rap than the legends who propelled it to what it is.

not overrated at all, and even if you think he is---you're very much in the minority

i thought eminem was amazing at this peak--better than most rappers in their prime

he's obviously not the same anymore, but all rappers fall off eventually

You do realize some of these comments are from over a decade ago, right? Also, is it really that surprising that artists are complimenting one of the biggest figures in hip-hop history? I mean do you really think it'd be a smart career move for someone like Schoolboy Q to be like "oh yeah, he was great but now he sucks?"

I actually can't come in this section anymore. All it is is bitter stans who now don't even post discussion points they just post 'proof' Eminem is the best because no one listened to their horseshit posts that derailed another thread. Looks like you're probably going on ignore as well @trivio

Meaning that technically, just as far as rhyming goes, as far as being an emcee, he's still the best. But he's really lost his ability to translate that talent into making good songs consistently.

not overrated, not underrated... overhated to a degree at this point.

but seeing people who don't like Em argue with people who adore Em is such a headache

Not overrated. No other artist started their career with three undeniable classics (plus another classic from his group with Devil's Night) then followed that up with a classic movie and soundtrack. There's no way you can say 1999-03 Eminem is overrated. Post-hiatus Em is still the best overall rapper in the game even though his content has fallen off drastically.

That's usually how music debates pan out in general. Very rarely do you see both sides come to an understanding. Still, if people want to discuss, let them discuss. That's the point of the forum, isn't it?
