    Just call in sick, they can't fire you for that.

    If it's just temporary anyways, then don't worry about the job man. I quit my job at Apple to be present at my cousin's wedding, probably the easiest decision of my life.

    Basically, I'm going to my grandma's house for christmas and she lives in London (about 2 hour drive from where I live/work) and my work have told me i'm working boxing day. I wont be driving down there because petrol instead getting picked up and there aren't any trains on boxing day so i have no way of going. I've already been told I could be fired if i fail to meet my contracted hours.. the f--- do i do. Do i not go in and potentially get fired from a temp job ? or spend xmas alone :kdotcry:

    I've phoned them asking for my manager who i get on with and he's coming in at 2 so i'll phone again. I'll tell them the situation and say i'll make up the hours or something idk

    Just worked red zone (sales specialist) when I was 20. Nothing special.

    But I needed to take time off around Christmas to attend the wedding. They said they couldn't grant it as it's the busiest time of the year for them, so I left the job and went to the wedding.

    you're entitled to what you've worked for and earned thusfar, they can't withold that because you called in sick.

    at least they can't here, you're entitled to your last paycheque and any vacation money you've earned but haven't used yet, idk about laws there but i can't imagine you wouldnt be able to get it.

    in august i requested a week off and it just so happened to fall on the busiest week of the year. We had some special sale going and they denied me the vacation. So the rational person i was, I told them im going to quit because I wanna go on vacation with my family and im not going to care about my worthless job over spending time with them. When i told them that, i guess that got nervous or what ever and didn't want to replace me Etc... they eventually gave me my vacation time.

    my suggestion, Call their bluff if you really dont NEED this job and could find another.

    lol f--- them. if it's a temp job, don't sweat it. let them struggle for a replacement while you go enjoy time with your family. your family is important. hate to say it but your grandma won't be around forever. you could always find a new job. family can't be replaced.
