Serious Need work advice...

    Basically, I'm going to my grandma's house for christmas and she lives in London (about 2 hour drive from where I live/work) and my work have told me i'm working boxing day. I wont be driving down there because petrol instead getting picked up and there aren't any trains on boxing day so i have no way of going. I've already been told I could be fired if i fail to meet my contracted hours.. the f--- do i do. Do i not go in and potentially get fired from a temp job ? or spend xmas alone :kdotcry:

    Just call in sick, they can't fire you for that.

    If it's just temporary anyways, then don't worry about the job man. I quit my job at Apple to be present at my cousin's wedding, probably the easiest decision of my life.

    Just worked red zone (sales specialist) when I was 20. Nothing special.

    But I needed to take time off around Christmas to attend the wedding. They said they couldn't grant it as it's the busiest time of the year for them, so I left the job and went to the wedding.

    I've phoned them asking for my manager who i get on with and he's coming in at 2 so i'll phone again. I'll tell them the situation and say i'll make up the hours or something idk

    @Immy what's the job and how important is it to your future/career? really can't see them legit firing someone for being out of town for xmas, but then again idk what the job is. whats the contract like? if you're contractually obligated to work that date then you probably should have let them know your situation earlier, it depends on the contract i guess.

    I dont really need it, it's just extra money tbh.
    They've known that I cant work boxing day but refuse to change my rotar anyway.
