Dec 26, 2015 Yeah Elton John went out of his way to bring up Young Thug b/c hip hop politics lmfao and you actually talk to Talib? d--- i feel sorry for the dude
Dec 26, 2015 Word? I feel like there is absolutely no reason to politically align yourself with Young Thug. Let's be honest, he's not a commercial juggernaught or nothing. I feel like everyone who f---s with him does so because they like his music.
Dec 26, 2015 idk anything other than blindly getting behind any young thug hate lol form your own opinions. listen to his music. come up with knowledgable criticms dont follow the lead of people like Besky. just tryina help u out bud
Dec 26, 2015 Why are we accepting the fact that this kid says he talks to Talib Kewli lol am i missing something?
Dec 26, 2015 When did personal enjoyment not count on how an album is rated? That's new to me. First and foremost, music is made to be enjoyed. That's what makes it so influential. I think Kendrick forgot that. As an African, I really appreciate what he had to say and the effort he put into the album. That's why I feel a little sad when I have to skip to the second half of the album( momma, hood politics, the blacker the berry, complexion, mortal man.) No amount of music history and technicality is going to change that. If as an African I feel like that, imagine how a mainstram hip hop fan feels. That's who I assume Kendrick is trying to influence, the average person. They don't care of all the # 1s that critics give to the album or the Grammys or jazz history. And some people try to defend the album by saying it's more complex than GKMC. It being harder to listen to doesn't mean it's more complex. In GKMC, Kendrick conveyed his skill as a lyricist to the fullest. He only showed this skill in the later half of tpab. In addition, many people have said that Compton was a dissapointment and that it was just an okay or just good project. However, in the poll against it and tpab, it won. I entered the thread expecting tpab to win by a wide margin, but that was not the case. Either people don't like tpab that much or they voted like that because of all the Praise it got by critics. That adds to my next point. The reason many hate on tpab is because they see an album that they don't like being praised by critics. People have taken out the factor of enjoyment in rating tpab for some reason. This is the only time where I've witnessed this phenomenon. This creates a cognitive dissonance. Every reaction creates an opposite reaction. Tpab will continue to receive undeserved hate as long as people give it undeserved praise. To sum my post up, ur objective argument is bs.
Dec 26, 2015 no i didnt lol what edit: oh the meet and greet? dudes not a big talker lmao i think he grunted and shook my hand thats about it this dude makes it seem like him and Talib get on the phone every night to gossip about rap politics
Dec 26, 2015 I think you already know my opinion about YT, I don't like his music, but I f---s with couple of his songs so far... cause they're catchy, but nothing more than that imo. I don't follow anybody's opinion bruh, really
Dec 26, 2015 Didn't you guys speak at the meet and greet? I was invited by J. Cole backstage to meet him when I was involved with JCN, I asked him if the rumours of him smashing Rihanna were true right after giving him daps
Dec 26, 2015 lmfao like i said in the edit, it was short. and we were the last like group of people allowed in (we werent gonna go initially but the line shortened). i was just lucky it was at a shoe shop right by where we lived...we were already in the area i just dapped him up and then proceeded to record myself singing Be Me See Me (cuz i was talking about how i LOVE that song all day and it was playing when we walked in. fate ) he said "what up slime" to my friend tho if that counts i wanna interview thug so badly
Dec 26, 2015 He knows what he's doing. He's said multiple times in those french interviews that Americans are just too biased for him. that they have an agenda. so he only feels comfortable speaking when he's overseas.
Dec 26, 2015 It's true and it's all about objectivity. Like EVERY classic gets hate... thats what haters do, but every classic and masterpieces is getting that kind of acclaim, thats what classic sand masterpieces get for being objectively superior to other albums
