Feb 17, 2016 Decided to just make this my official project thread for now, and I'm going to start posting random ideas/thoughts as sort of like a log to show the evolution of the project(s) as they're in work. Anyways, I'm working out concepts/stories for my next big one starting now. Got an idea but I'm not sure I want to run with it after Autumn Storm.
Feb 18, 2016 My current idea: Another spiritual sequel to The Coldest Winter like Autumn Storm was, but truer to what the TCW was about and how it sounded, and with a more fleshed out story/concept like Autumn Storm. It'd be set during the winter time again, but with a sort of horror cliche cabin in the middle of the woods type deal, with evil dead type horror s--- happening. I've also got an idea for the structure of the album, and an idea for the skits/interludes as sort of a way of setting the 'scenes' or opening parts to the 'acts'. I'm going to s---t for voice acting on these too. I REALLY want to add some sort of emotional pull to this like Autumn Storm had tho. That's the only reason I didn't jump right into production on this months ago with Tundra.
Feb 18, 2016 I've thought about going that route but I haven't honestly been able to nail down in my head what kind of a sound those songs could have, and there's not much sound wise associated with those seasons like Winter and Fall, and I can't think of anything name wise either. Altho, now that you mention that, in context with the whole cabin in the woods s---, I can actually picture something with Summer in all this: swimming, but I don't know how I'd tie it farther into the rest of the album other than a skit. I'll have to give more thought to it.
Feb 18, 2016 Okay, now I'm feeling out some more things with this whole summer idea @Ordinary Joel Think I may actually go in this direction, but what I've already thought of above and just now, it's going to be a long shot and it's definitely going to take awhile. And it's going to be very involving as far as a writing process goes for this, much more so than Autumn Storm ever was. I'm probably going to try and produce a track for this based off of what I have in my head (like I did with Caught In The Rain before Autumn Storm) and write out a sort of guide for how this should all flow in it's theme.
Feb 18, 2016 Corny idea #1 - Autumn's mother goes on summer journey to find new love as her loneliness is crippling her badly. The album would have a very sombre feel to it. Perfect fit for your rather sad/dark tones in your music. More corny ideas to come when I think of them.
Feb 18, 2016 haha, keep them coming. honestly any random idea might spark something based off of what i have planned in my mind so far
Feb 18, 2016 this actually just gave me another idea, but for spring. i won't say what, since that would be a project for after this... but i'll just say it relates sort of and spring is all about the new/rebirth etc. also, i've been writing up more random s--- just to track my current ideas. i'm going to post it, but it's super spoiler-y so be warned since this could ruin giant chunks of the story if it's anything like this on release Spoiler Spoiler: are you sure? general: -horror cliche with a cabin in the woods by a lake, or possibly a beachhouse -think evil dead/friday the 13th type of vibe -either magic/spirit/ghost/devil/demon related or slasher type deal or possibly some kind of creature/aliens -voice acting for the 'scenes', which are the interludes here -break the album down into 3 acts, think of it as an actual movie or a play -try to somehow get the feel of credits rolling on the end -also something like the fanfare for the fox logo at the beginning -try to name the songs more like scene names story s---: -group of friends head up to a place for the summer to relax and swim and have fun -they either disturb something and something otherworldy ends up after them or they stumble into something with a supernatural type creature or an alien or there's a muderer stalking them at their place -they're trying to survive but slowly their numbers go down little by little -eventually it's just the main two characters left against the threat -possible open ending as to whether or not they survive sounds to consider: -crickets -waves -beach noises like seagalls etc. ideas for interlude 'scenes': -"Fireflies": the protagonists out looking at fireflies/lightning bugs suddenly their car turns on and the headlights flash on them two people get run over this is the introduction of the threat in the story, but if it's something they caused somehow, this should be in Act 2 and not 1 -"Uncertainty": depending on the angle for the story, this could go a couple of ways either way, it should be the last track on the album anyways, if it's some kind of spiritual/magic angle: the last couple is trying to undo whatever it is that caused the issue together something is coming for them or they're running out of time or whatever and they're not sure they can make it this puts pressure on them and stress on them/listeners, wondering if it's going to work out right as they do whatever it is they were suppose to, they ask each other "did it work? is it over" and either the album immediately ends at that point, leaving it a cliffhanger or whatever the thing was that was hunting them gets them with a sort of like jumpscare sound or something, but nothing cheesy slasher angle: they've gotten whoever it is right where they want him and they're ready to pounce or they've tracked him down and found where he was hiding out but somethings wrong with either one of them or the situation and they're just not sure they'll be able to stop him the guy goes to face him and tells his girlfriend or whoever he's left with he loves her, and then goes out of the room cue muffled fighting, sounds of whatever the weapon is and stuff breaking then someone getting stabbed then nothing the girlfriend opens the door and says "baby?" wonder what happened and that's the end of the album there structure: -Act 1- The Intro with fox logo fanfare *CURRENTLY UNTITLED* Interlude I (Fireflies) -Act 2- -Act 3- Interlude III (Uncertainty)/Credits Roll
Feb 18, 2016 Oh my, this is turning out very different to what I've done before with this intro bit and what I've done on the first track. Might completely change up what I was going for here sonically with the production style, and actually might change the direction of the album. Going to upload something from it later.
Feb 18, 2016 @Ordinary Joel track i ended up starting to produce sounds nothing like i really intended for this, so it's going to be for something else, i did however come up with this for the intro lol and this a snippet of the track, which I don't know what I'll be doing with yet
