Jan 12, 2016 didn't know your english was bad. my apologies for the parts of my arguments that were based on your word usage. but no, i absolutely don't mean that poetry is a higher art than rap music. i mean the opposite, actually: rap doesn't aspire to be as respected or as legitimate as poetry. they're just distinctly different art forms.

Jan 12, 2016 I don't think poetry should be respected or legitimate, it's just an art form and it isn't superior to any other art form. But I think rap respects the definition of poetry, so it's a form of poetry. Just like it respects the definition of music, and the definition of art. Vanilla Ice is an artist, a poet and a musician. I know saying something is "Art", or "real poetry" is some form of praise, but it's not right. I think.
