I can see that. His musical output is very meme/caption friendly and it seems on purpose, but I don't think that takes away from him being a unique artist.

Well generally speaking I'd say NWTS & IYRTITL have a much different sound than 808s, SFG, and TML.

i would argue it takes away from him being an artist at all. he's churning out disposable content for basic bros.

Let me put it this way.. in what way does Drake excell (808s) Kanye if he was merely inspired by him?

He can perhaps sing better.. but his singing isn't as repeatedly enjoyable or meaningful as Kanye's :dno:

and to be fair, almost 80% of kanye albums are pure biting.

Even Yeezus was biting Death Grips... People started to realize that so the bbc and other magazines started to write articles titled "kanye and the art of stealing" and the only argument the kanye fans could find is: "but but, its still innovative because kanye found a way to bring that style into the mainstream"

    lolllllll :'( :'(

kanye's always synthesized his influences into something new, or at least something his own. kanye wouldn't have made 808s without t-pain, or Yeezus without drill and chicago house (not death grips, that's been widely debunked). but 808s doesn't sound like t-pain, etc.

this is basically what Kold said:

but yeah I agree that Kanye probably does it more than anyone else.

But thats a minor issue that is only of recent when it comes to IYRTITL or WATTBA. Hopefully he tones it down a bit. The B*** of Drake's material is not meme material or basic to me nor is it disposable. He can be a intriguing writer when he truly tries with his pen and those moments are not forgettable or basic. They are the musical moments most of his peers wish they could create but can't because they are not Drake.

808 does sound like a t pain album, but then again t pain fathered that style

nah, t-pain's music--even the more depressive stuff--was pretty sharp and pop formatted. i'm a huge t-pain fan, this isn't knocking him. but 808s has a pretty unique sound unto itself.

This is not true, i've never seen a 'semblence with DG in Yeezus other than using distortion as a tool of evoking frustration/anger/eotion.. and his brass abrasive lyrics..

you can hardly accredit these elements as innovations of a 21st century metal-hop group :lmaooo:

Riiiight. You generalized his career sound as basically 808s and I brought up the fact that his last 2 projects are examples against that point but hey, don't let me get in the way of that hate train.

you guys ain't even trying to be objective lmao, you're just trying to hate on drake because you don't like him.

So now sfg & tml are imitations of 808 but 808 is innovative and not an attempt at biting Rappa Ternt Sanga... yeah right :lolbron::lolbron:
