Is Take Care the most forced "classic" of all time?

But @WPG because I think you're a greatest of all time poster, MBDTF is a top 4 album of all time for me because I feel like Kanye challenged himself as a creative and tried to push what this genre was meant to sound like. And none of that sounded forced to me like it did with To p---- A Butterfly. Hearing that alongside Illmatic, which in my opinion is one of the best produced albums of all time, it's astonishing how far the genre has come. Beyond that, I don't think Kanye has ever exposed himself more than he does on this album. On joints like Power, I can vicariously feel his frustration (Got treasures in my mind but couldn’t open up my own vault) more than I can in any interview he has ever done. On joints like Blame Game, I feel like I can vicariously feel what it feels like to be villainized in a relationship - every forward step is some how a misstep, no matter your intentions when things got rough, none of them really matter. The album is half a decade old now, yet when I go back and revisit it, it stills sounds like the most innovative collection of 13 songs I have ever heard. Granted you've probably heard more music in the last 2 years than I have my entire life.

So no matter how much I love Rich g---, I wouldn't put Tha Tour Pt 1 over an album that I think is close to perfect (my only gripe is that I wish it was mixed better). Similarly, no matter how much I love Summertime '06 or GKMC, I wouldn't dare put them over MBDTF.

I doubt that's what you were looking for in my answer, but I'm not eloquent enough a writer to effectively convey why a great album is better than a good album, especially when they're not leagues apart in quality.

    Barter 6

    /thread.

I've already touched on both these album but to sum up my stance, Take Care is a monotone/snooze fest of an album. Drake's singing capabilities aren't as good as he thinks they are and I feel like he sings/raps in cliches throughout the entire album. The Weeknd probably should have kept some of the material he wrote on that album for himself, he definitely would have executed it better lol. Barter 6 is for the most part solid. It opens up great but towards the second half of the album it becomes to be a bit inconsistent with great tracks mixed with forgettable/filler tracks. Either way Thug at least grasps your attention throughout the album which is more than I can say for Take Care :dno:

I actually like this poll, both albums are pretty close in quality but I went with Take Care based off personal preference :idk:

Is this going to be the new "Eminem vs Kanye" threads where it gets made a million times even though the type of music they make isn't comparable and then stans from both sides call the other sides stans even though they both are, therefore completing the circle jerk of life

Knee jerk reactions are worthless. I definitely put more weight into an opinion with some time behind it. Easily my favorite Kanye album. By a lot.

i like this post, and i don't think you're crazy. i think Dark Fantasy is an all-time classic--it's probably in my top 15 ever. i would simply like people to give Tha Tour the critical attention it deserves, since it's in my top ten. i would argue that what kanye does for production on his record, thug does for the actual act of rapping on his.

I'd rather listen to Take Care if I had to save one, I'll never get tired of the tracks the Weeknd wrote. B6 on the other hand feels like a much more cohesive project and continues to fascinate me to this day.
