Most conscious/lyrical rap purists have a limited knowledge of rap

almost 100% of rap music is just the same subject matter repeated over and over again. There is not one rapper who touches on subjects that haven't been said before except maybe macklemore because he raps for gay rights, etc.

The people that still buy into conscious rappers are still in that 90's/ real rap phase that everyone was in at one point. They haven't heard enough music to realize the same story is being told over and over again, and that the only innovations that can be made are changing the sound of rap instead of the lyrical content.

Sometimes I wonder how close-minded & ignorant do you have to be to only subject yourself to just a limited sample of rap? Don't know why it's so hard for people to see both sides of the coin, hip-hop is more than just touching upon social issues and complex rhyme schemes. It is possible to listen to Wu-Tang and Young Thug.

I live for rap, I understand rap, I even study rap history. So I know the topics that can be discussed and the sound that can be produced.

It's not like the same thing exists for music, many of the topics are similar too.

Kevin Gates the best lyrically, he's number 1, his shouting flow gave me goosebumps he's so good, his flow is impeccable, just the number 1 lyricist no question. name one person who could body Gates on a track? lmao u cant! that's right because he's number 1 hands down!!! if you don't agree, you're not a real rap fan and you probably like Hopsin LOL. (BTW Gates might f--- cousins and make his girlfriends succ dog diccs, but he's better than your favorite rapper LOL!!)

Kevin Gates shows us all that just because you're different and do stuff like f---ing your cousin, doesn't mean u cant be a famous rapper too. Also he been to jail for a long time and killed like 3ppl which is a really important factor for me cause all rappers are thugs. He really is the single greatest human being to have ever existed and has maybe the most versatile styl of any rapper ever in the history of time. His worst verse is better than andre 3k's best.

It's not about the certain topics used in rap. It's about who is talking about it, it's about the voice, it's about the flow, it's about the sound. That's why Eminem is my fav. Not because of the lyrical content. Lyrical content may be the smallest part of it.

Ironically, the person that these rap purist nerds love to s--- on has a better lyrical song than all their favourite artists discography-

lyrics are important, but they aint everything, which backpackers/dustheads dont quite understand, hence why they like eminem despite his awful voice/delivery nowadays
