Jan 22, 2016 It seems that despite big commercial success, Drake isn't being recognized as a potential goat in the future. ( Kendrick for instance is being considered as a potential candidate ) Why is that ? My question is , when it's said and done, will people look at him like they look at Nas, Em, Pac etc ? Despite obvious skill-sets, these guys' music have left landmarks in peoples' lives and as well in the history of Hip Hop. I thought about this and I guess what I'm asking myself is this : What does Drake bring to the table ? Provide arguments for why or why not. And do you think there's a reason why people dont tend to look at him like that ? Also : Can somebody be a goat and have their lyrics written by other people ? Here's my take on this : I'm not talking about borrowing lines or choruses. I'm talking about taking whole verses and flows. That's just too much. But I don't think just because you "cheated" once, you're out of the game. Doesn't make sense. You have way more material that has not been touched by that. Keep the main focus of the discussion on the first question and not the ghost-writer thing. Just wanted to throw in my take on it.
Jan 22, 2016 Why do people say Drake isnt good because he has had some lyrics written for him.. Therefore Eazy sucks, Dre sucks, Em sucks, Jay Sucks, Ye sucks.. they all f---ing s---. Also if you hear the reference tracks then this n----- barely took anything Drake is the biggest rapper in the world and has been for the past 5 years (I dont include Em cos hes a legend) He is a diverse artist with the rapping and singing. He has two great albums and an amazing mixtape. He is easily a GOAT from stature alone, He may not be top 10 or 20 in some peoples list but when he retires his impact on rap will stay.
Jan 22, 2016 To me, I don't think so. Although I love a majority of his projects, and he's one of my favorite rappers right now, I wouldn't be able to put him next to Big, Pac, Nas, etc. Maybe that'll change after Views comes Never know.
Jan 22, 2016 @Immy I didnt want to put the main focus on the writer thing but since you mentioned it. Dre and Easy are not considered MCs. And Ye is "so so". He doesn't really get mentioned in these conversations either. Drake on the other hand raps competitively. But more interested in hpw people look at him aside from the writer thing
Jan 22, 2016 Drake raps competitively ? The n----- made a song called Hotline Bling and ask @Alphabet about the lyrics of that song. Drake has no compeition
Jan 22, 2016 already is if you think eminem is in the conversation. but he'll never be a nas or a kendrick to me, he's not as good as those two.
Jan 22, 2016 Well if he doesn't , he's out of the conversation any way. But in my opinion he does, I looked at Drake as the new guy that wants to be the best.
Jan 22, 2016 "Dre and Easy are not considered MCs. And Ye is "so so". He doesn't really get mentioned in these conversations either" so you gonna say that Ye, Dre and Easy are not goats? Everyone wants to be #1.. Drake was the guy who found out how to do so and did it.
Jan 22, 2016 Eminem is cemented and recognized as a goat by pretty much every important Hip Hop authority and young MC. Also Kendrick is nowhere to the level of a Nas. You got it pretty backwards, my friend.
Jan 22, 2016 i'd disagree.. Kendrick is a f---ing animal has every right to mentioned in the same breath as Nas
Jan 22, 2016 @Immy Not at all and Im a big Kendrick fan. Prime Nas towers over current K dot. Immy, Dre and Eazy are goat Hip hop figures, not mcs. Dre is probably the biggest Hip Hop mogul. Im takning about mcs
Jan 22, 2016 @Immy Im not saying he isnt :D I like Drake. Im trying to fiund out what people think about this and why they dont think he is Mike, nope, not even close. Prime Em and Prime Nas are miles.. miles beyond K dot. But lets not derail and talk drake now
