Tpab. This is probably the least superficial hip-hop record I've heard in years; talk about dense and eclectic. Kendrick managed to balance massive ambition and scope on this record with meticulous musical details. The layers upon layers of jazz, soul and funk instrumentation mean that it actually gets better with each listen, at least for me. The choice of production really meshes with the message Kendrick is trying to get across (what could have been better? an album influenced by black musical genres is about black people, featuring the pioneers of some of these black genres) .
