    TIL drug addicts are subhuman.

    It makes much more sense to give your cash to someone who's going through heroin or crack (or even alcohol) withdrawals than to keep him/her in that state of torture out of some misguided sense of morality. Many homeless people are alcoholics/drug addicts but that doesn't make them any less deserving of our help. No one grows up wanting to be a junkie. If someone ends up on the streets shooting up then something has gone horribly wrong somewhere down the line and they need our empathy and support more than ever, not our judgement and derision.

    Well its what they live for. They don't want hot food. They have food stamps, they are just chasing happiness and thats the path many will remain on until they die.

    Well as someone who used to be homeless, and hang out with the homeless, I can usually tell who needs help and who does not. Times are tough for everyone so its not hard for everything to fall apart and end up on the streets. Family and friends can only help so much when they are trying to get by themselves. I did beg for money for drugs when I was homeless and I was able to get high and eat good daily. Keep in mind that people on the streets can make hundreds of dollars a day if they want to, I did.

    These days I make great money and if I have a couple loose dollars on me i'll hook up a bum. I could careless what they want it for. I actually took in one of my homeless buddies and made him my maintenance man where I work, gave him a room an everything. s--- is hard, especially under Obama so don't be so harsh on the the homeless if they show respect.

    Yes it did. My legacy on these forums was really all I had. I kept this in mind when I thought about giving up and knew you guys were here waiting for me, and for that I am grateful.

    So is a new job, house, car, girlfriend, everything. Giving them "hot food" instead of cash is still just providing them with temporary happiness. Why not give them the freedom to pick what form of temporary happiness they'd prefer?

    Those videos are so fake.

    I will give homeless people food if they are around the grocery store, never cash. I only give money to humane society, hope for paws, Salvation Army or other charities around Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year.

    Few months ago I had to do community service as part of my probation out in town at a public library. It was just raking leaves, weeding gardens, etc. There was a homeless dude would sit out on the steps for hours every day I was there. Took him out for lunch 3 times that week, good guy rough life, it's sad.

    I don't really like giving just money because who knows where it goes, have no problem with giving food though.
