I really wish Ye would stop taking about that Bruce Jenner look alike Swift. She's a privileged white chick, who makes catchy hits, and she's always gonna win bc she's mastered the innocent, victim shtick. White America isn't gonna let her fail. If they rebuilt a bum like Britney Spears, you know d--- well, they're gonna do whatever it takes to protect Swift. Ye's gotta realize this and just stop talking about that b----.

He needs a break from Twitter.

i mean this was justified imo. dude wrote an entire piece about how macklemore has more cultural significance than kanye. how people will be quoting MC Hammer but not kanye in 20 years.

i dont think he was making a value judgement rly. i think actually he was saying even MACKLEMORE (who sucks) has done something more significant in the longrun than ye.

i dont fully agree but thought he made some interesting points. it wasn't a piece from a "hip hop head" to be sure. i respect the pov nonetheless

no he didn't phrase it like that. He held Macklemore in the same regard as Kendrick and Eminem when it came to social commentary, and placed them all above Kanye.

There was nothing to respect about the POV. It was detached from reality. It misrepresented and marginalized Kanye's contributions to the genre and culture while focusing solely on his actions outside of the music. It compared him to a streaker at a baseball game. It was pointless.

yes, i could see how someone not infatuated with ye might upset you.

honestly, i get ye's point about this guy being part of the old guard too. that said, he's been cutting classic records since before ur parents came to our blessed land, so i think he has a right to look at all this stuff from a longer lens. its like you stans give ye a pass on everything (except his cosby troll)

Macklemore owes Kanye a gift basket for mentioning him in a tweet 3 days before his album drops.

    lol k

ezrin's piece didn't look at kanye's career from a "longer lens"

it was him chastising kanye's behavior and being absurdly off base about his contributions to hip hop. you don't even have to like kanye to realize that.

"You can be a star today just by creating a public life that people pay attention to. That’s it. All you have to do is be interesting or likable or shocking enough and you can have your 15 minutes of fame…even if that means that no one will remember you or what you’ve done in just a few years. Line ‘em up. How many “popular artists” have come and gone in just the last decades. In my mind (which is a pretty busy as often too judgmental place, I will admit) real artists make stuff that changes the world and LASTS."

^doesn't apply to kanye in any way shape or form

"Instead Kanye’s greatest achievements have been in the form of excessive behavior, egomaniacal tantrums and tasteless grandstanding...what he is a true artist at is living his life out loud – and shoving it down the throats of the rest of us whether we give a s--- or not. He’s like that flasher who interrupts a critical game by running naked across the field. Is that art???”

    ^drivel

“Unlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, it’s unlikely that we’ll be quoting too many of Kanye’s songs 20 years from now,” Ezrin writes in the newsletter, which has tens of thousands of subscribers. "He didn’t open up new avenues of public discourse like NWA, or introduce the world to a new art form like Grandmaster Flash, or even meaningfully and memorably address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.”

@Narsh i can tell ur rly mad right now. its ok. out of curiosity, which one of kanye's lyrics do you think is going to be part of the zeitgeist in 20 years?

and yeah, its not a great piece, but i think it brings up some interesting points about legacy. its not rly a quality control argument
