Impossible... Kendrick already worked with the absolute best musicians on his last album and they gave him his absolute best work in order to make one of the best composed rap albums of the decade.

In order to top it, Kendrick would need to work with the same musicians and they'd have to outdo themselves. I ain't seeing that.

for it to be his best album it would need to be a 11/10 or a perfect 10/10 since TPAB is a 9.6 as rated accurately by Metacritic

nah... Tpab deserves that praise. But then again, you need a perfect understanding of these musical genres (funk, jazzn classic rnb) to understand the praise. If you don't, then you just gonna rely on your opinion.

I wasn't completely sold on the full album when it dropped and I didn't understand why so many artists and professionals were calling it flawless so I decided to revisit my classiscs and now I understand the praise. I've found myself constantly going back to it and listening in full, this is a pure masterpiece and it deserves every bit of praise. You would think kendrick is like 60 years when you listen to this album, it has everything you would expect from some of the best jazz and funk albums.

    It will never top TPAB

I'll probably end up enjoying it more but I don't see him topping tpab, quality wise.

I thought he was never gonna top TPAB (yeah I said it, even though s80 is my fav) but then I read about kendrick & herbie working together

A potential TPAB 2 could be just as amazing as TPAB

No way, but I definitely feel like hes gonna dumb it down to appeal to more people (which means it won't be as good as his last efforts)

Doubt it. But like someone said, it could be more mainstream/accessible, but it won't be better.

TPAB combines the best of what them black musical genres can provide, it features brilliant music.

It's not an easy listen, but I don't think that was Kendrick's intention. It's a rebellious album, he went the opposite direction everyone expected him to go... A lot of people thought he would sell-out further and cater to the radio, but he straight dropped an album complete with BrainFeeder instrumentation, weird flows, and political lyrics.

He has a long and prosperous career ahead of him, I think he's absolutely brilliant but I don't see him topping TPAB. It's already the highest rated hip hop album of the past 16 years, and for legitimate reasons imo.

And the album is finally gaining traction now with Kendrick's newfound success with his visuals.

I agree that tpab is much better, but gkmc is still an amazing album

TPAB is equal with section 80 IMO. I think GKMC is his perfect storm, the stars aligning so to speak. I have my doubts he will ever top it but you never know. He's certainly capable.

I'm afraid he's actually about to drop his worst album. He knows he can't top tpab and people will s--- on him for not being able to surpass that 96/100 on metacritic so his only way to "top" it would be to make a project for the masses, his next album could be his recovery

    Good luck with that.

People were saying the same s--- when sxn80 came out and then he dropped gkmc, it was widely regarded as the 2nd best rap album of the decade after mbdtf. Then he dropped TPAB, an album praised as one of the best albums of all time, in any genre.

The next step for him is to drop the best album of all time, but I don't see that happening. I think we need to let him breath, dude already did what most artists can't. He'll probably drop other great albums and stay consistent, but there's no way he gonna drop his best album

Kamasi Washington aka the best jazz artist of the decade also praised as the savior of jazz music

Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Flylo, George Clinton, Bilal, and the list goes on

As far as jazz and funk go, you can't find better musicians in these lanes

oh yeah I definitely agree. I wouldn't mind kendrick retiring either... I mean, I agree with what some musicians saying about kendrick reaching perfection on tpab and everything after this will never come close.

You can already see a lot of arguments as to why its one of the best albums of all time (You can also see a lot of people not feeling it, but it has nothing to do with how great the album is) and I doubt someone can make 2 of these "goat albums" in his career. Yeah sure GKMC & S80 are great as well, but they don't transcend hip hop like tpab did

You just you these guys/this guy was going to come in here and say what they've said. :')

However, I agree, it's going to be really difficult to top previous projects. For me I'm just excited to see what he's going to create for the next chapter of his career. Won't be ready to compare it with others when it comes out.
