Mar 2, 2016 I thought he was never gonna top TPAB (yeah I said it, even though s80 is my fav) but then I read about kendrick & herbie working together A potential TPAB 2 could be just as amazing as TPAB
Mar 2, 2016 Kamasi Washington aka the best jazz artist of the decade also praised as the savior of jazz music Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Flylo, George Clinton, Bilal, and the list goes on As far as jazz and funk go, you can't find better musicians in these lanes
Mar 2, 2016 Good luck with that. People were saying the same s--- when sxn80 came out and then he dropped gkmc, it was widely regarded as the 2nd best rap album of the decade after mbdtf. Then he dropped TPAB, an album praised as one of the best albums of all time, in any genre. The next step for him is to drop the best album of all time, but I don't see that happening. I think we need to let him breath, dude already did what most artists can't. He'll probably drop other great albums and stay consistent, but there's no way he gonna drop his best album
Mar 2, 2016 I'm afraid he's actually about to drop his worst album. He knows he can't top tpab and people will s--- on him for not being able to surpass that 96/100 on metacritic so his only way to "top" it would be to make a project for the masses, his next album could be his recovery
Mar 2, 2016 KTT had a dope discussion about this.. Like he could easily top GKMC since he already did it twice. But topping tpab? meh
Mar 2, 2016 He can do better than gkmc, he can't top TPAB. I don't even think he can top section 80 if we're being honest.
Mar 2, 2016 TPAB is equal with section 80 IMO. I think GKMC is his perfect storm, the stars aligning so to speak. I have my doubts he will ever top it but you never know. He's certainly capable.
Mar 2, 2016 TPAB is a great album but holy s--- at how much people are overrating it GKMC is the only one deserving of that type of praise
Mar 2, 2016 nah... Tpab deserves that praise. But then again, you need a perfect understanding of these musical genres (funk, jazzn classic rnb) to understand the praise. If you don't, then you just gonna rely on your opinion. I wasn't completely sold on the full album when it dropped and I didn't understand why so many artists and professionals were calling it flawless so I decided to revisit my classiscs and now I understand the praise. I've found myself constantly going back to it and listening in full, this is a pure masterpiece and it deserves every bit of praise. You would think kendrick is like 60 years when you listen to this album, it has everything you would expect from some of the best jazz and funk albums.
Mar 2, 2016 he's right actually. A lot of musicians saying it has some of the best compositions in hip hop history. I'd say that tpab is his greatest work, but gkmc is his most accessible one, you can see how great this album is even if you're not educated on music in general, it's a straight hip hop record. Tpab is much more complex musically
Mar 2, 2016 Yeah he is. There's like 8 members here that all share be sky's opinion and all share his IP range so like yeah...
