Definitely loving this... I'm now studying music and I feel like kendrick's found his niche. Also, he definitely has the right artists in his circle

he has mastered that jazz funk fusion, thats really cool. That's not something that appeals to everybody though, but at least now we know kendrick is always gonna deliver.

I revisited section 80 after having tpab & this ep in constant rotation these last 2 days... its crazy how kendrick has improved as an artist. I thought I was gonna love section 80 and its jazzy instrumentals...and I did enjoy it but the music really seems amateur on it (compared to the music he gave us these last 2 years), very cheap, a lot of musical mistakes

That's what being loyal to terrance martin can give you... it allowed him to work with the best artists in that niche, it allowed him to learn a lot.

Now imagine what section 80 could have been if it featured all the musicians and artists who worked on tpab..s--- would have been even better

I listened to all of his albums on thursday and I enjoyed section.80 a lot more than TPAB.

I enjoy both equally, but tpab is still better

I been saying s80 could have been as great as tpab if it was released later in his career. f---, I think it could have been his best album.. He had all the right ideas, he just didn't have the right persons behind him. The jazz elements on s80 are actually very "approachable" but an in-depth analysis reveals their flaws and the production as a whole isn't as diverse as we'd like to think so

Way too many songs on s80 where the producers mistakenly tried to extend normal triadic chords for no reason. Rappers & hip hop beatmakers usually don't know about this s--- so you can't blame them. Most of these aesthetic choices weren't made by session musicians.
There's still one "jazzy" song on s80 that is actually extremely well produced, it's ab soul outro by Terrace Martin
