Yeah Ye needs to chill. Releasing CD's and Vinyls don't hurt anybody.

Yeah I don't really see the point of this and I could also see him going against it anyway

tbh, dont remember the last time I bought a physical CD. May have been a Brother Ali album. All of my s--- goes on my phone now, no need to buy CDs anymore.

The unfortunate part is that nobody will be able to pull the "Do you guys have Turbo Grafx 16 in stock?" stunt to get the album early.

lol but in all seriousness, I think Rosenberg is right on the money with this cassette release as a novelty item. 90's nostalgia is huge and cassettes are somehow making a comeback. It's ridiculous because it's an absolute s--- medium, but the timing on this Em tape is actually perfect

Yeah the last physical copy of an album I bought was Dr. Millionaire on cassette. Cassettes in 2016 aren't really even for listening. It's a way for you to support the artist in exchange for some cool memorabilia.

Honestly though, Ye is so into art/fashion/etc that I thought he'd never go this route. Kinda makes sense though with the Yeezus cover as he said.

CD's have been dead for a while. 99% of people pirate or stream anyway.

Kanye's the only one who is being honest about it.

I personally would prefer a physical copy of an album I really enjoy, apposed to a digital release. You really can't get the satisfaction with a digital, like you can with a physical. (imo)

you do know that ppl can make physical copies themselves. all they need is a cd burner, black cds, cd labels, a jewel case, and an album cover printed

True, but it's really not the same; especially to a collector

The most surprising thing about this thread is people acting like this is something new. I remember a band in 2012 saying this may be their last physical album and it's been obvious to me it's going this way for at least 5 years now.

Lol @ acting like this is some new idea by Kanye, this has been slowly happening for many years now. Go into a Best Buy and find the CD section, it'll be one small aisle compared to 15 years ago when it was half the f---in store.

CDs are cool but obviously won't be around much longer, enjoy em while you can I guess. Nowadays I just put everything on my iPod (which is also quite old) and play everything on there, works easily in the car too.

But I do enjoy having something physical to support the artist

I respectfully disagree... A lot of people still buy them.

I feel like the only reason he doesn't want to release anything tangible is so nothing is set in stone if it's not good.

You can correct an online release but not a physical copy. It has something to do with how TLOP was received
