Mar 14, 2016 The usual initial hype. It's Drake. Along with Em he is the biggest rap artist. So there always will be huge hype around him. The song had a big sales debut which explains the high hot 100 debut. No radio/video support + no official release did hurt the song. So Drake clearly used the song to build hype around the project. The initial hype died off fast and the song fell off fast, simply because nothing else carried it. Although I don't get why he released it so early. Probably to give his fans another song? Dunno.
